Author Topic: The addon that lets you see the addons used in saves?  (Read 1782 times)

I need that addon that lets me see the bricks and other things used in a .bls

Search is your friend, found it on the 4th page in Add-Ons.

I don't think it looks for events, but it should find everything else.

thank you. I tried searching for it but gave up

"save detector"
"save locator"
"blockland add-on detect"

stuff like that could help, putting in random keywords close to what you want to find always helps expand the search

this is actually something a bit harder to search for

"addons in saves" for sure doesn't give the correct topic in the addons section, or any related topics that would link to it

The issue I have with the current "addon readers" available is that they only tell you what your missing by datablock name. This doesn't tell me what addon they come from and leaves me to manually open every addon zip to figure out where "halfquarter_ramp4.blb" came from.

Doesn't really help, just diverts the effort.

However, this one does seem promising.

I google the file name and it always takes me to the pack. Better than manually opening each addon, if I've understood you correctly.

Say a save I have uses "Brick_LLDoors.zip" (a pack of doors), and Im missing "PeepHoleDoorClosed.blb" (one of those doors), the addon reader will only tell me I'm missing PeepHoleDoorClosed.blb.

And googling "PeepHoleDoorClosed.blb" doesn't refference Brick_LLDoors.zip in any way either so I'm not sure what you meant there.

So Id be left with opening all brick addons I might have or using the file search to find where PeepHoleDoorClosed.blb is.
It's not a fast process. However, Im not even sure if an addon could feed me the zip file names the addons originate. But it'd be nice if it did.

Clay Hanson/RTBARCHIVE's addon lister shows the addon .zip it comes from if you have said addon in your addons folder, whether or not its enabled. otherwise it lists the datablock name.

In most cases in my experience (aside from the example you've provided) appending "Blockland" and "Add-On" usually does the trick for finding it.

If you were missing the door, it wouldn't give you the blb filename. It would give you the UI name. Because saves use UI names.
