"A team of researchers in China sent a photon from the ground to an orbiting satellite more than 300 miles above through a process known as quantum entanglement, according to MIT Technology Review."

"The latest development comes almost a year after physicists successfully conducted the world’s first quantum teleportation outside of a laboratory. Scientists at that time determined quantum teleportation, which is often depicted as a futuristic tool in science-fiction films, is in fact possible."

Pretty soon we will be able to teleport bread.

wheres my hoverboard though

i have a feelings it's not what everyone thinks it is

i have a feelings it's not what everyone thinks it is
me not care

i have a feelings it's not what everyone thinks it is

you're right

they're doing quantum entanglement research, and quantum entanglement does not break special relativity outright- that is, information/mass/energy cannot be transferred FTL

it will likely be a way to eventually send energy or data back and forth.
its not likely we will be able to teleport :p

instant "speed" without bandwidth :p

holy forget imagine the internet speeds if we can truly harness this. 300 petabytes up, and 100 petabyte down.

lmao a photon isnt nececarilly an "object"
its a packet of eneergy, and you cant "teleport" items, because you cant make an item with information go fast as light.
not groundbreakign at all

resonance cascade when

oh stuff you just made me think about that

Tfw John Titor may have actually been right.
resonance cascade when
Lol

as a customer of century link im actually tearing up at this sentence

like most high technologies, if we are hearing about it openly, its because its been used for 20+ years already in secret ways.
