Author Topic: What Should My Girlfriend's First Video Game Be?  (Read 5833 times)

Tomorrow, my girlfriend is coming over to try video games for the first time. My eventual goal is to teach her to be better at Destiny than my friend, but that's a very long term goal. For the time being, I just need suggestions on what her first proper gaming experience should be.

In the past, she's touched Spyro and Battlefield 1, but from what I've been told, she barely touched the controller and immediately lost interest because nobody was teaching her to play. I would normally get newbies started with Portal 2 (it was the most successful result in my study of introductory video games for non players), but I'm curious to see what the BLF thinks.

Post your suggestions below. I own PC, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and a 3DS if you need to know what platforms I have available. Don't suggest games I can't legally obtain overnight/tomorrow morning.

what kind of games do you want her to get used to

like shooters or platformers or..?

Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

I say play a bunch of different genres, then see which one she likes most. Everything from Super Mario Bros. to Super Smash Bros.

yeah portal 2 does sound like a nice idea
altho what if she could get motion sickness from it being a first person game since she's not used to it especially with portals

It should be, "The Rake" Its only $5 on steam.

Mario Party 8, it's great fun to play with people

Spyro 2 PS1
HALF-LIFE (preferebly the remaster "Black Mesa") PC
Super Castlevania SNES
