GAME OF THE MONTH
Super Mario Odyssey

Release Date: October 27th 2017
Platform: Nintendo Switch
Genre: Platformer
ESRB Rating: E 10+

Super Mario Odyssey was just released on October 27th of 2017 and it has brought back the classic Collectathon Platformer play style. For the longest time many have heard the term "Collectathon Platformer" and nearly gagged, then First Person Shooters took over and everyone turned around and begged for it to come back faster than the speed of sound. This game is large, extremely large. Each level feels like it's own world, and that's both a great thing and an awful thing. Having a game as large as Mario Odyssey allows you to create very ambient areas and and a seemingly endless amount of possibilities. The Problem is since there are so many of these large levels, at some point, even if you're just planning to finish the game and not 100% it, eventually it stops being fun and becomes a chore. The reason this becomes a chore is because the rewards for exploring the worlds and getting coins and other collectables are either new costumes, or access to another huge world to repeat the process.
There is not a whole lot of situations in which the game breaks up this repetitious game play. So, I recommend you play this game off and off, but I do not recommend it as an immediate purchase, but otherwise this is the best game for the Nintendo Switch this month because it offers long-term fun, but don't play this all at once.

Finally Updated the OP BTW

I might get the Switch after my birthday. Should I get Odyssey or Breath of the Wild? I've enjoyed games like Super Mario Sunshine and Galaxy, but I've never played a Zelda game

I recommend Breath of the Wild, it was one of my first Zelda games and honestly, it's a brilliant game, I sunk over 200 hours into it.

If you want, you can buy Odyssey but I recommend BOTW over it because Super Mario Odyssey is too short for £50.
