honestly i find blocky guns much harder to design than realistic guns because even though its all primitive shapes you still have to operate on like 50% of guesswork. the good part about it is that you have all this room for wacky and blown up attachments and additional parts for the gun, so it becomes more of a really weird procedurally generating puzzle.


these two are perfect examples of guns that i essentially modeled 30 times over and over changing up the parts each time. the assault rifle's receiver is essentially stolen from bushido's machine gun, but every other part of the gun is completely original and based on like 3 different guns. same with the mauser, except i made the original pistol, but i like redesigned the sights and the stock like 10 times before it ended up becoming a mini rifle.
i could model a scale image of an ak47 but that isnt fun because i'm just painting by numbers. i like to make the stuff cartoonish because it really takes more skill to stay consistent to a style than it does to just carbon copy a reference
