nobody in their right mind would ever launch a nuclear missile lol
Anyone that seriously talks about launching a nuke is actually insane. It would be an absolute catastrophe of epic proportions. What needs to be done is forced diplomacy through China imo. Find out what they want and actually discuss it. China is afraid of a revolution and doesn't want to deal with refugees/ war on its door step. Everyone wants something here and peace is beneficial for all. Escalating this stuff by throwing fighting words is a terrible idea imho.

NK wants to wave their richard around on the international scene without retaliation. They can then say to their people "The Americans are afraid of war with us!" when the Americans don't engage their handicapation and use that to further drive the propaganda machine.

NK doesn't want anything except to continue with the status quo.

keep in mind even if Annoying Orange or kim jong ass decided to launch nukes, they'd have an entire team full of top advisers who would mutiny or go against them, because they probably understand that engaging in a nuclear war is the worst probable outcome for anyone in existence

the idea that nuclear war will start at any point is some fallout fear mongering bullstuff that people make up just to scare others
Well Annoying Orange hasn't said anything to imply he would strike first, and to be completely fair it's not entirely known if they're going to strike guam directly or around the island itself.
Either way, You're right though, that's what I'm counting on at this point.

We're going to hear about an "unfortunate death in the north korean royal family" by morning if kim is actually serious.
And if Annoying Orange for some reason started talking like that, you can bet a similar, but far more vocal and public, situation would likely occur.

Surprisingly turning earth into mustafar is frightening to anyone with a pair of brain cells and a stem.

Lmfao the reaches some of you go to.
Haven't conjured fictitious kids to win internet arguments yet. We'll have to wait and see if I reach that depth.

not only that but the surrounding fallout and violation of international law would essentially destroy any relations NK has with any foreign exporters. even if they were to launch a missile just to stop the us' missile system or in self-defense they would essentially have no source of imported metals or food or anything

any way you look at it its just shooting yourself in the foot.  nobody would let their leader do anything of the sort

Tread loudly AND carry a big stick.

a REALLY loving big stick

My suggestion was quite simple: Put that needed code number in a little capsule, and then implant that capsule right next to the heart of a volunteer. The volunteer would carry with him a big, heavy butcher knife as he accompanied the President. If ever the President wanted to fire nuclear weapons, the only way he could do so would be for him first, with his own hands, to kill one human being. The President says, “George, I’m sorry but tens of millions must die.” He has to look at someone and realize what death is—what an innocent death is. Blood on the White House carpet. It’s reality brought home.

When I suggested this to friends in the Pentagon they said, “My God, that’s terrible. Having to kill someone would distort the President’s judgment. He might never push the button.“

north korea will not launch a nuke. worst case, they set one off on the ground in their own city last second when its clear they lost. anything they launch will instantly get shot down before it leaves their borders, likely before they even leave the silos.
they may artillery up south korea for the half hour they even have the ability, but forget sk anyways.

South Korea is an important economic and political ally and a bastion of American/western values amid the clusterforget of communism that is Southeast Asia

They rank high on the Human Development Index and their people have generally favorable views toward the US and Americans, which is more than can be said for most.

South Koreans are pretty based people IRL as well. They work hard and don't bitch and moan.

but forget sk anyways.
lol haha forget innocent people am i right bro

i'd only start being concerned about an attack when sk starts evacuating citizens from homes

The problem is that the only deal that might get by the higher-ups in NK would be to grant them immunities from all the human rights violations they've helped commit in exchange for giving up their missiles. Otherwise if they just disarm and let the outside world in, they're going to end up in international prison. Letting them get off scot-free is not exactly ideal considering they're horrible people.

he's trolling, my man

If North Korea launches a missile at us, it's either gonna end up in the ocean or blown up in their faces. At which point we can just loving steamroll them.

Some people are talking like this would be a war like Iraq, which is completely wrong. This would be a war like the Gulf War, where we forgeted up the Iraqis big time with only double-digit casualties. It'd likely be over within a couple of days. We are the most powerful military in the world bar none, plus we would presumably have the backing of NATO and anyone who felt threatened that NK actually fulfilled one of their promises. NK is a speck of dust. They don't even have widespread electricity in their country. They have no chance of winning whatsoever, even if they do a Killzone 2 and detonate a nuke in their own city like madmen.

Once we win, just do what we did with Japan and Germany, in coalition with SK, and we're all set. It'd be like removing a wart.
