I mean you can't exactly cheat in Mario 64. It's not like it was called 'free N64 roms' or something

The problem is that the 'hacks' are essentially providing everyone with modified versions of the roms. And this whole thing goes to show just how much further Sega and Nintendo separate themselves from each other.

Nintendo: Remove videos about their games. Pretty disconnected from their fans.
Sega: Posts memes on Twitter, as well as in replies to comments on their videos.

Nintendo: Shut down Metroid 2 remake.
Sega: Hired Sonic Mania devs.

Nintendo: Shuts down hacks. Doesn't distribute their games on PC.
Sega: http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=34270&browsesort=trend&section=readytouseitems&days=90

Nintendo: Makes people pay again and again for their old ported games.
Sega: http://forever.sega.com/games

SEGA used to be worse about this stuff but at least when it comes to sonic they are pretty smart about the community/

Absolutely. Sega at some point stopped giving a stuff about quality and just wanted money. They've even admitted into not putting effort in their games a few years back. But at least they seem to be trying to come back as a good company. Even if they still refuse to give us more Phantasy Star.

I will not forgive SEGA after Phantasy Star Online 2 not releasing to America for no good reason.

Seriously, its not "There isnt much people interested in Phantasy Star Online 2" because there is a ridiculous number of people using fan-translations.

I think that's why they didn't to be honest. They were originally not okay with other countries playing on their Japan servers, but then eventually figured it was less effort for them to just have us do the translation work ourselves and continue to play on their servers. SEA was a different story because there was money involved. Another publisher was interested in hosting the servers for SEA.

And it's probably best this way too. Imagine having a really low level cap, and only the basic 6 classes. That was the SEA server while Japan had the bouncer class and more than twice the level cap. They were pissed that they were IP restricted out of the Japan servers.

this pretty much

considering how sega NA handles mmorpg styled games (*cough cough* spiral knights* cough cough*), a NA release of PSO2 would have just been a pay to win stuffshow most likely.

furthermore, its not like they can really release it in NA anymore without it costing them a forgetton on licensing previous collabs and redistributing them, aswell as catching up 5 episodes (5 years) worth of content.  People wouldnt play on a NA server anyways cus majority of the english community is playing on ship 02 anyways and have already invested money/time into it.

if you really want PSO2, just go here and download the tweaker+english patch, its pretty much fully translated so there's really no significant difference.

I've been playing PSO2 on the JP servers non-stop for the past 10 months, its really not to hard to play as an english speaker thanks to the patches (also the JP community doesnt seem to have the same consistency of starfishs as the English community does so I personally like being mixed in with them)

Just dont go to block 20 i think it was.

Last time I did it was just a lot of symbol art research. And not the good kind either.

blocks got completely swapped around recently with the removal of expert blocks, but B1 is the one you'd want to avoid

regardless I feel like we're bringing this a bit off-topic,though I am legit surprised anyone else on here actually plays/played pso2 at all, maybe I should make a thread for it.
