Homestuck was a very popular webcomic that ended last year, and an associated point-and-click adventure game comes out tomorrow after a fairly chaotic development. It will be released for Windows and OSX, with a Linux version "top priority post launch and will come asap." Supposedly, having read the webcomic will not be necessary for understanding the plot, as it takes place years before Homestuck, although I imagine you wouldn't get the same enjoyment out of it.

The game will cost $7.99. However, this is only Act 1 of the game.

took long enough

how much will it cost?

 [last minute playtesting intensifies]

wait what homestuck ended last year??

Though the game isn't out yet, it seems a review is:

It's largely positive, especially considering the reviewer hasn't read Homestuck.

its also been out for not even a day and it's kotaku
it's not a very long game and yeah i realize it's kotaku

EDIT: alright i'll give a quick semi-review

It's a good game with a lot of charm and character, excellent art, and good music. The writing was good and it elicited a few chuckles out of me, but it's not going to blow you away. You definitely don't need to read Homestuck to understand or enjoy the game, as they aren't that many connections other than existing in the same world, though the alien race in the game will seem more alien to you (as a lot of their society is revealed in Homestuck).

The story gets pretty interesting towards the end, but honestly the game was just a bit short for my tastes. The price is low enough, but even at $8, I wish there were more than 3 hours to it.
