i really like onions and i guess i have a resistance to it, but do people really cry when they do it? ive never cried when i cut onions but ive had onion juice splash in my eyes and it hurt but did not make my eyes red or make me cry.

No people don't cry, just the particles from the onion that float into the air and into your eyes, causing you to tear up and make your eyes red, causes people to say people cry when cutting onions

ive only ever cried when I cut up an entire onion or more, amount of onions cut is the key, my brother works at a Chinese restaurant and they have him cut up entire bags of onions at once. he says he fully tears up everytime

I didn't believe it happened until I had used an automatic dicer to chop a shallot. When I opened the container, my eyes were on fire, felt like I squeezed hot pepper into my eyes.

i just cut up 2 or 3 onions and never cried once
i had to cook and serve a burger for my whole family

vegans do because they're killing the only thing that loves them in order to eat

It really depends on how you cut them, and how fresh the onion is I guess.
I've only teared up once with a pretty fresh onion.

only if you're a loving pusillanimous individual

just think about how you killed that onion

:(

ooooohh YEEEAAHHH RIP AND TEAR

if you've ever been in a room full of 30 chefs all cutting onions, yes. It hurts your eyes a ton

people don't cry, but your eyes can water a lot.

Yeah it's not actually crying. Onions release chemicals, when the inside is exposed, that irritate the human eye. In large doses, it can cause severe pain and your eyes are trying to flush that stuff out.
