How should Badspot sell Blockland?

Sell it entirely
Sell it and claim royalties per sale
Sell it and own percentage
Sell it, own percentage, and royalties per sale
Throw it away

Author Topic: Should Badspot sell Blockland?  (Read 2709 times)

Hello my Blocko family, I know I don't usually post cringeworthy material (lmao jk I do) but I think this post is about the same quality as the updates are.
(And yes I love shark tank)

P.S. I have no clue how selling games like this work.

 :cookieMonster:

No one would be willing to buy it at a price he'd be willing to sell it at.

Badspot already sells Blockland though...

why would he only claim a percentage when he is the sole creator? I'm going to guess amazon and steam probably take a small cut but the rest of sales probably go directly to him. Also royalties are generally paid to him if somebody else uses his content, and as far as I know nobody is licensing Blockland for education / using its assets, so dunno what he would make royalties from.

no only the keys blockland is free

yea if I remember, Torque takes a little part of it (maybe not anymore, not sure), steam/amazon/other seller also get a cut

It's either that or find someone in the community to trust and give the source code to them (or sell it to them) - which will never happen anyway
Even though the game is done it would be nice if modders could have more awesome functions that are written in the engine (especially things we can't do) instead of never receiving an update, the game can get more players not just because of new updates, but because of more functionality.

how do people forget that in order to sell something somebody wants to want the thing in the first place
anyways i really don't see why anyone would buy any less than half of this, considering badspot isn't looking for a boost in sales for this game, and it isn't a profitable game. royalties would be too much of a pain in the ass and would just cut back on the whole equity deal, so the only option would be to completely sell it (or just sell >50% which would give the other person ownership)
and again you'd someone both competent and willing enough to buy something like this because i know i sure as hell wouldnt

for how much? and then how many copies can they sell to pay for it and finally profit?
the only reason to buy it is if it was such a huge brand, that a sequel using it's name can be made.
but blockland isnt really big enough. they may as well make a blockland ripoff under a new name.

personally, I wouldn't mind updating BL without changing where the money goes
I'm not in it for cash

This is actually a really nice idea especially if Badspot were to choose the right people

As long as it's not for Disney it's ok.
