The portion of Calistoga that was evacuated will be secured and NO re-entry will be permitted until further notice.

currently there's no fire in calistoga but it's getting pretty close so the mayor decided to evac before stuff gets forgeted

so incase you didn't know there's a bunch of wildfires going on in sonoma and napa county and they're loving stuff up big time. 3.5k homes and businesses have been destroyed and 21 people have died- so basically, we're forgeted. huge parts of Santa Rosa have been burned to the ground and with a change in wind direction it's probably gonna get worse

i'll update the thread with more news when i can if my house doesn't burn down

update: the death toll has risen to 24 since yesterday

currently 20,000 people are either homeless or evacuated, 7,000 people without power and 463 people are still missing

We rarely get fires that destroy property, much less entire loving neighborhoods. All our fires stick to brush fires on hills and mountains. On top of that, were so used to it that responders also know what to expect.

One of my colleagues lives in Santa Rosa. The house he grew up in was completely destroyed, and he still had some of his stuff there. He had to evacuate his current home. The area never sees stuff like this. Responders, while trained, don't actively participate in real situations like this to near the degree like SoCal. We're in a desert, you expect this.

So you guys understand a bit of what we're dealing with

i'll have you know im a proud red-shirt commiefornian who voted against drumpf last year and that if everyone buys partial ownership, we are effectively seizing the means of production by collective ownership of the companies there
