Blocklander Newby Guide

Welcome to my guide, newbies may want to read. I made this due to people joining Blockland and the massive overload of stupid idiotic noobs.

On the Forums

The forum is a community. We must respect the community. Disrespectfulness can result in a ban.

Grammar and Spelling

Grammar is an important thing. If you use grammar and spelling improperly, you could be flamed.
If you want to have a better reputation on the forums, use grammar and spelling in a good way and do not go around posting "OMG HAHAHHAHZH I PWN UR BUTT NOB HAHAAHA U SUK!!!". There is also a bad thing in that saying, but we will get onto that later.
If possible, your can be converted to you're in sentences like this: "You're a dumby." You're is used in that sentence because it is short for you are. There are several other words like this, but lets stop doing schoolwork. Unreal words such as "suk" are bad if you want to be cool. "Suk" is a horrible spelling of suck.

Disrespectfulness and Reporting

1. Disrespectfulness used improperly can result in a ban also. If you threaten someone and you do a bad thing because they don't follow you, you can be banned.
Disrespectfulness can be used in a proper way, such as disrespecting a copier or disrespecting someone who does not follow the rules of a game.

2. Reporting for a pusillanimous individual reason is not a good thing. If you do so, you could be banned because of reporting someone saying your add-on is bad or such.
If the reporting is used for a threat, you will be banned. Threats about reporting are for idiots who can't do something for themself. Reporting for no reason is a dumb thing to do, not that I would expect anyone to do that.

Add-ons

If you have made your first add-on and you personally thing it is bad or it overwrites a datablock, don't release it. You should release it when you have had experience with making add-ons or you think you have a good add-on that doesn't overwrite a datablock.
However - if you make a useless add-on and release it, you will be disrespected. If you make an add-on that overwrites a default weapon or add-on, you will also be flamed.

In-Game

If you're in-game, dont spam or start building big crappy bases. You can be flamed for this.

Spam

One of the most important things is spam. Everyone hates spam, dont start building with 1x1x5's or 1x1's, replace those small bricks with larger ones. There is also a different type of spam, such as painting.
Painting people is very annoying, don't do it. Occasionally, you can be kicked/banned from the game for painting people.
Don't make random vehicle spawns, everyone hates it. Don't spawn weapons, everyone hates 2x2 bricks in the middle of a map with a weapon, it takes up building space and it lags alot.
However - painting bricks is a different thing. Don't start painting bricks random FX's and colors, just use regular paint. For example, if you have made ice in an ice rink and you want to make it glow, that is fine. Just don't abuse paints.

Minigames

If you're in a minigame, obey its rules - don't be a stupid cheater. If you're in a DM then don't flame people for killing you. Teamkilling can be an idiotic and dumb thing, all you're doing is stalling your team and making them loose.
Once you're in a challenge, dont cheat by building even if you're a person with building trust from the challenge maker. If you are given tools, don't abuse them by disabling the death in lava bricks or such.
To make a minigame, simply click the escape button and click the Minigames button. You can name it, and under that you can set some various things. If you want weapons in your minigame, there are 5 slots for weapons to your far right. You can also set player types, which can be changed by looking to your left and clicking on the drop down tab.
That should be all you need for minigames.

That is all for now.

You could have just submitted some questions for me to add to the FAQ.

Like:

"What's Spam?"
"Why use Grammar?"

I doubt any newb would read it, I haven't even heard of your FAQ.

That's why we're applying the Clan Guidelines treatment to it.

If you doubt theyll read it why did you make your own...

Don't forget "Don't make copies of thread already in existence, except if the thread is locked."

Um, I think it should be Newbie, Not Newby.

You never see newbie guides on any other forum or website, this is why Blockland forums is handicapped, the need for information that should be learnt the hard way.

Yeah, but 90% of the BL community will kick/ban/flame them for asking a stupid question, when they may honestly not know. And there is quite a large amount of information about BL to learn, from interesting add-ons, long-awaited add-ons, how to use a wrench, and in some cases terminology (Ex, what panda/ice cream implies).

Um... are you serious? Google "newbie guide" and you'll spend the next 6 months scrolling through the links. If that doesn't convince you, look at the top of this page at the "Help" button between Home and Search. What do you think that is, if not a newbie guide for the forums.

i paint people all the time :3
