You may want to consider seeing a doctor to get a blood test and verify you've not got any physical conditions affecting your mood.

I highly recommend you start watching films. You'll feel much better when you discover what Cinema can offer.
start with the graduate

Hard to explain but simply the way I got out of my constant depressive mood a few years ago, literally all I did was start to look at the bright side of things and not take everything seriously

Taking everything in a good light and looking at the positives instead of the negatives 24/7 really loving helps, also socializing with friends helps too, online or not

also hobbies

If he does, that's forgeted.

I've got hypothyroidism, which includes bouts of depression among other conditions (as the body can't regulate energy storage/usage correctly), and without testing and the correct meds I'd probably be getting worse now.

let me get this straight
you think this guy, whose entire problem is that he can't convince himself to actually get stuff done instead of wasting time, needs to waste more of his time watching movies?

i'd say set up a doctor appointment and actually go to it

the poor guy says he is lacking the discipline and motivation to do really anything and is often depressed. Watching films isn't a waste of time as I've never been happier since I've started watching one every single day since early 2016 and I used to be somewhat depressed. Cinema has many amazing things to offer.
