Suspect has been identified as Devin Kelley, no clear terrorist links or motivations. 26 years old, ex-Air Force. Police are currently combing facebook posts made before the attack.

Apparently an armed resident chased him as he ran off. He died on the county line after a police chase. Vehicle filled with guns.

Info is flooding in right now

Photo of him. He was court-martialed and dishonourably discharged from the military in 2014. About a week ago, he posted a picture of his gun on facebook and called it a "bad bitch".

In other news, some people on Twitter are having fun.

Ban churches
careful now we don't want to start another crusade

supposedly what he liked on facebook

people who like adult humor pages on facebook should be shot

Two take away lessons for me here:

-snip-
One: As this post details, it was already illegal for the shooter to possess a firearm. This should be clear evidence to everyone that simply making things illegal to possess doesn't solve the actual problem.
Pro-gun people want to see these shooting stop too. But all this time spent bickering about banning/restricting guns is just time that could be spent discussing an actual solution.

Two: The shooter was apparently chased off by an armed civilian. If all law-abiding citizens were disarmed, it is probable that the shooter would have been able to kill more people before he was stopped.

I'm seeing a lot of talk about people wanting to ban AR-15s specifically, which makes me curious:
So, my question to those who are pro-gun control: Without looking anything up, based just off of what you know right now, what is it about this one model in specific that leads to so much discussion about banning this one model in specific

it's big and ebil looking

it's the only rifle they know about because no one who has ever picked up and fired a gun more than once is in favor of gun control

i don't think you realize that there's a big difference between gun control and a gun ban lol
