i'm going to try to make a few things for my desk using wood and nails and i was wondering a few things

what kind of wood
where to get stuff cheapest (i have tons of nails and a hammer)
what stuff to get for certain parts to move/pivot

i will sketch up prototypes if you need to know what i'm making

what kind of wood doesn't really matter too much, but I'd go to the hardware store and ask some of the employees what they would recommend for what you want to build.
