Author Topic: Junk Jack Megathread.  (Read 2438 times)

This game has taken over my life as of late, I bought it on steam during the sale and saw there were no megathreads for it.
Here we are.

Gameplay, It's like terraria/minecraft but with more of a focus on building and exploration rather than prepping for the next boss-fight.

Screenshots.

Home sweet home.

Me and my cow stranded on a deserted isle.

My basement/underground farm/storage area. (and my cow)

(Definitely not taken from the website.)

Use portals to travel between 12 planets with unique hand crafted environments.

All worlds are procedurally generated and different every time you create a new one.

Play online with your friends. (coolest thing)

Fully featured equip system with hundreds of different wearables with unique stats (even though combat isn't the main focus :/)

Beautiful retro styled pixel art graphics. (and when they say beautiful they really mean it)

Deep Electronics system to create intricate contraptions, even complete CPUs!

Creative mode to unleash your creativity and build everything you can imagine. (also coolest thing)

More than one thousand different crafts. (content)

Two styles of crafting: a crafting grid or simple mode which allows crafting items with a single click. (smart design choice)

Lots of loot to collect! (they mean it)

hundreds of place-able objects, blocks and decorations. (they also mean it)

Fully dynamic day-night system, with weather effects. (neat feature)

A vibrant coloured lighting engine! (this game looks nice)

Fish and display your captured animals in fish tanks!

Place your rare treasures on shelves, display your equip pieces on mannequins! (cool Easter eggs and collectibles.)

Collect tameable pets which will follow you around
Capture and breed cows, sheeps, pigs and many more animals! (COOLESTEST THING)

Farm and grow unique plants and use them to cook delicious recipes. (so much stuff to cook it's scary)

A thorough in-game tutorial will help you learn the basics of the game. (Neat tutorial to get you to grips with it)

Beautiful music tracks by Bright Primate. (NO CRAP I LOVE THIS GAME'S MUSIC)

Craft hundreds of potions with the chemistry bench.

Mix flower seeds to grow thousands of unique flower combinations. (inbreeding plants both Evil and fun!)

Decorate your home with many craftable and customizable furniture sets. (Building is so fun and well made)

Combat hordes of mobs with many different weapon types. (if you want some combat (there isn't much though) )

Explosives, signs, paintable objects and many more features awaits you!

You can buy the game on these platforms.

Anyway, enjoy junking off.

EDIT: Damn you page-stretch.

i have this but i dont play it anymore

It's a good time to get back into it. The dev says he is gonna work on it regularly again.

it looks like a very cheap terraria rip off

yeah this started as a terraria ripoff on mobile platforms. it moved to pc recently-ish

terraria os better......

whats wrong with terraria or starbound? starbound is pretty stuff but they both have more content and don't look like mobile terraria ripoffs, and atleast both have a way to fuse textures together so it doesnt look like everything is a bevelled cube geez

I've played Terraria but I personally like this more than Terraria, but it's my opinion so don't start a flamewar.
Also people in the sandbox genre have to stop calling each game that is inspired by another a "Ripoff" cause tbh the ones who deserve the title "Ripoff" are people who make "Mobile miner blox 5"

BONUS: This game has been being made since 2010.

It just got pc release in 2016 with a completely rewritten engine and it was buggy for a while but now it is less crash heavy and has allot of polish.

Same.

on wikipedia for junk jack it says it was released in november 2011 and straight up said it was supposed to be 2D multiplayer minecraft in development, giving no exact date...

terraria was announced in late 2010 and the first alpha gameplay on relogics youtube channel was in april 2011...

minecraft was in development as far back as 2009 and was actually released in 2009 at first..

Ah thanks man.
EDIT: I knew about minecraft's development date.
EDIT 2: Someone told me JJ started 2010 prolly not exact/true though.
EDIT 3: I'm not saying that terraria ripped off JJ or that JJ ripped off terraria, I like games in the sandbox genre as long as they're polished and are made well.
