Author Topic: all city rpgs suck  (Read 4255 times)

they all do. theres nothing remotely redeeming or interesting about any city rpgs anywhere. they are all the same- you do nothing while you earn fake currency and use that fake currency to buy education so you can continue to do nothing. you build a house but it gets cleared eventually. why wait 5 hours to build a house when you can just build one on a freebuild?

why do people play it? do blockland players enjoy the pain and suffering of the most boring gamemode to ever be created next to lawn mowing simulator? aaaaagh it hurts

the game is so boring that you're forced to resort to killing people out of sensory deprivation but the game is designed so that if you try to have fun, you then have to sit in a jail for 20 minutes, just to reinforce that you are not allowed to have fun in a city rpg. but people still play it. being a cop is the only remotely interesting job in the game and its literally a stuffty dysfunctional cops and robbers . sometimes there are no robbers so you just end up killing people out of boredom anyways

obviously you must be missing something if they are insanely popular

slavery was insanely popular at one point...

issall bout that grind to tha top gamer
but fr tho i never rly enjoyed a city rp and at times just feel like a dm against anyone who has a gun

they're all exactly the same thing. never even remotely fun unless it's with friends

False equivalence. You have defeated your own point.

Your best argument is that you don't enjoy cityRPGs. A lot of people do, so it's clear something is being offered. A more productive argument would be finding what is drawing people and put that in something better, instead of disavowing an entire genre without offering an alternative.

phantos does it again, the madman

here's whats drawing people: stuffty arbitrary pointless grinds which yield nothing, require no strategic moves to obtain, and simply require waiting. its literally a fully coded version of those airline sim servers where you sit in an airplane seat for 10 minutes in order to buy a hat in-game. there's nothing redeeming or entertaining about city rpg. it sucks but people enjoy it, just like weird people enjoy sticking large objects inside their urethra. you see it and you really have to set them straight and explain to them how misguided they are. yes, anyone who actually enjoys playing cityrpg is misguided, their opinions automatically invalidated.

there are no good city rpgs. none can be made, basically because rpgs can't be made- no one person can dedicate enough time to making a full rpg with actual narratives and engaging quests so instead they resort to idle rewards where doing nothing the entire game gives you money. then it gets worse. they add a hunger meter so you have to interrupt your doing absolutely nothing to waste more time wasting your hard earned idle money just to feed yourself.

nobody can defend it. city rpg is a mess of conflicting 'mechanics' (i put them in quotes because they aren't actually mechanics just stupid features added to the game to give it 1% more complexity) that encourages absolute boredom, punishes you if you try to do anything interesting (besides building which is already a goddamn waste of time when you can just build on a different server)

When you wind down and realize you've missed the point entirely, nobody's gonna wait for you to catch up.

YOU DONT UNDERSTAND THE PAIN I FEEL. TO SEE ALL THESE YOUNG MINDS LOST TO SUCH A MINDLESS REPETITIVE GAME

I understand completely what's wrong with cityRPGs. Every loving server tries to delude itself thinking that the only reason people are there is to use their stupid loving jobs. People play cityRPGs to kill, but killing people doesn't feel as accomplishing if you didn't work a 9 to 5 to get your gun because that's human nature for you

If a cityRPG was focused on killing, building and resource gathering, it would be popular. All it needs to tie it together is a simple grind and you'd have the masses lining up to have their cake and eat it, too.

That's why suburbia failed because everyone thinks they can just add a bunch of feature creep because the cityRPG foundation is limitless!!

Guess what, people will literally only play suburbia ever to kill people and build something.

aka run it like dayz or rust and you're good to go
