YouTube has said its removals of right-wing video channels were a mistake, something conservative users are finding hard to believe. YouTube blamed the blunder on the inexperience of its newly hired force of moderators.

“As we work to hire rapidly and ramp up our policy enforcement teams throughout 2018, newer members may misapply some of our policies resulting in mistaken removals,” a YouTube spokesperson told Bloomberg. “We’re continuing to enforce our existing policies regarding harmful and dangerous content, they have not changed. We’ll reinstate any videos that were removed in error.”

However, many did not see it this way. Several outspoken conservative personalities voiced their disdain for the snafu, accusing YouTube of bias in the wake of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High school shooting.

won't be long before conservative channels are straight up banned from youtube and twitter for not having the "correct beliefs" and conforming to the SJW/leftist groupthink

This is like if your little brother comes to you and confesses that he broke your PS4, and immediately buys you a new one. Is there any point in still being angry once the mistake has been rectified?

So the problem is youtube is getting too involved in politics instead of being more neutral.

So if say someone from the alt left shot a bunch of people and said he'd do it on youtube, youtube could theoretically be held responsible as they are no longer neutral with how they handle their videos.

They basically only allow left or alt-left on their website now.

that would make sense if this was actually a mistake. however it's very clearly an issue of leftist moderators deliberately silencing conservative channels because they were conservative (as leftists love to do - attempt to silence all opposition), and youtube's trying to damage control and claim it was a mistake. like when a girl cheats on you and says it was a mistake.

this but unironically

Isn't the difference that Google is a corporation, not one person? Their statement is that some novice moderators overstepped the line, likely some new hires that also happen to be SJW. It's a bit much to expect a big company like Google to be able to micromanage every single moderator to prevent any mistakes from happening.

If you want to claim they're lying, on the other hand, then you can make up any reason you want for anything they do. There's not much point for a discussion, or to even read their statement then.

I could see right-wing videos getting hit harder than left-wing videos be a simple explanation, like maybe the right-wing videos got flagged more.
Maybe some gun control advocates were responding to pro-gun videos by flagging them as "promoting violence" or something stupid like that
And more flags = more moderators likely to see it, and thus more likely do take the video down.
That's an explanation that I could see satisfying even right-wing users as well - "whiny liberals reporting everything!!!"

The article says that PragerU filed a lawsuit against them for this, claiming First Amendment infrindgment.
It'll be interesting to see how that pans out, vs the whole "First Amendment applies to government censorship, not private property" thing.
Now, don't get me wrong here, I'm not supporting this type of "censorship", and even if the allegations are true, from a legal standpoint I would take the stance that I don't believe a private company should be forced to host content that they don't want on their property.
Come to think of it, isn't that typically more of a right-wing stance? I've seen similar arguments used by conservatives on other First Amendment issues,

So the problem is youtube is getting too involved in politics
are u surprised? theyre owned by google

it's more like if your brother, who has been known to rant about how loving terrible and handicapped nintendo games are, broke your switch, then replaced it saying it was an "accident" after you confronted him over it

>using russian news as a source
arent you guys all about free speech anyway? youtube is well within their rights to remove channels that they dont like (in this case its probably advertisers)
blame society, not youtube

Why am I not surprised?
YouTube seriously needs to get there head out of their ass.
