Author Topic: YouTube temporarily shuts down conservative channels "accidentally"  (Read 10308 times)

Youtube isnt a party its a platform
And not liking their opinion isnt grounds enough to deplatform someone.

But of course, it is if you follow the Laws to a T and dont go with the spirit of free speech.

youtube exists to make money and theyre going to do what advertisers (the ones who give them money) want
surprise surprise
i understand what you are saying but you cant expect total impartialness from a platform designed to make money

Everytime some dipstuff pulls the "Youtube isnt government therefore forget free speech." Bullstuff their balls should be cut off.

I feel as though having any consistent discussion on this is impossible if you're going to say stupid stuff like this. What's the point in preaching to the choir, anyone who isn't stark raving mad is going to agree with the idea that even though it's stuffty that such a large website can 'accidentally' shut down channels randomly, literally nothing is going to come of this. It's too little too late to spark any controversy worth a damn.

If you pull the free speech card, you're an idiot. Full loving stop. First amendment doesn't protect your rights to host content on a private server. If you don't like that, run for office first chance you get or vote. Otherwise, go find somewhere else to soapbox.

when is Badspot going to permaban some people to make a point like he did with kimon

I'm sorry people don't agree with your ridiculous stance, but the fact of the matter is that you're going to whine your ass off and then continue using youtube anyways, so it doesn't really matter. Cry censorship all you want, until enough people get sick of google's stuff, youtube's gonna stick around.

Why should anyone take the opinions they disagree with at face value?

Also please take your balls too the nearest guillotine.

Free Speech is an idea not limited to law, but again, sucking corporate richard willingly or by force is still sucking richard.

So enjoy freedom while it lasts because 90% of all public platforms are privately owned.

Have fun living in lala land getting by through every knee-jerk response you have to the world changing around you. In the meanwhile, the rest of us are going to stop wasting energy getting outraged at stuff we saw coming for years

If you think free speech is what's being infringed here, you're welcome to die on that hill. Nobody's stopping you.

School is turning this generation into communists.
thank god. i can't wait for the comTeens to rise to power

Free Speech is an idea not limited to law

There's a difference between unethical and illegal.
Just because it's not right (I'm not disagreeing with you there) doesn't mean you can successfully sue them and claim First Amendment infringement.

So enjoy freedom while it lasts because 90% of all public platforms are privately owned.

Missed this tidbit, oh you sweet summer child.

Are you calling capitalism evil? loving lol youtube is just trying to appeal to their advertisers so the platform can break even. That's all there is to it, beyond google's sus left-bias which probably has less to do with it than the desire to profit.

Also please take your balls too the nearest guillotine.

Recognizing that this isn't a legal issue doesn't mean doing nothing.
Quite the opposite intact.
If you want to solve a problem, you have to identify what that problem is, and take the correct course of action.
If your response is to immediately just cry "First amendment! lawsuit!" and try to make a legal issue out of something that isn't, then that means you're not spending your resources on a course of action that will actually make a difference.

you can't sue a private business for violating free speech lol

if you want badspot to ban people who have differing opinions than you then you are no better than youtube banning conservatives

you need a course in reading comprehension

it's more like if your brother, who has been known to rant about how loving terrible and handicapped nintendo games are, broke your switch, then replaced it saying it was an "accident" after you confronted him over it
remove the 'you confront him over it part'. The news was part of a public statement from YouTube lol. The only people who confronted YouTube were the 10-20 channels that got taken down, and they immediately returned the channels after finding out. Or it's even possible that they fixed the channels before any complaints were recieved. Either way youtube rectified the issue on their own command, not because someone called them out for it

You make it sound like YouTube as a whole purposefully removed those channels, then purposefully made a public statement apologizing for the removal of those channels, then purposefully fixed those channels, all at once, which would be hilarious. Maybe they had a change of heart?

"might does not make right" is your opinion. the 1st amendment not applying to youtube is drydess's and frankie's opinions. you suggest that badspot should ban these people to make a point. clearly you do not like drydess's/frankie's opinions. this is ironic because you dislike youtube for banning people for saying stuff that does match with their left-leaning politics, yet you want drydess and frankie banned because their opinion clashes with yours. my post pointed out this irony.
