Author Topic: BD&D: Slightly different...  (Read 5685 times)

...but still largely the same.

If this starts a trend, feel free to flame, but for now, I thought it'd be fun to dungeon master. Expect stupid references to movies and games, random comical instances, and at least one Indiana Jones chase.

Also, I'm not actually a D&D player, but I got the gist of it: If there's something that really shouldn't be in the game but is anyway, you can call it a new feature I added special to the Slightly Different version of BD&D.

Thank you to Copa/Caboose for the initial idea (You should go play his version if you like mine)

The thing that sets this apart from Copa's though (other than it's... mine...) is the inclusion of arse-saving Definition Attacks. Definition Attacks are typically well played-out single-tick attacks (You post one detailed description of an attack on one post) that do more amounts of damage than a normal attack.

For instance, if I type...

Bushido attacks!

The attack would only deal face-value damage + the weapon strength. But, if I typed...

Bushido hurls a passing canary at the foe and attacks while he's not looking with a swift hit to the crotch!

Than it'd be both funnier AND do a bit more damage: The entire point of the game is to get the most possible comedic value out of a boring old D&D adventure anyway. Plus, in this case, you'd have a canary in a big evil foes face and than beat him up while he's being distracted by it! How embarrassing. Also, the bonus damage done by a Definition Attack is capped by the amount of skill points you have. Even if your definition is incredible and awesome, if you only have 1 spare skill point, you only get 1 extra damage done to the opponent. But hey, spare damage is goooooood.

Anyways, All you have to do is fill out this character sheet to join. In the case of a multiple choice question (Classes, weapons, and armor) just bold the option you want.

The incredibly overdone character sheet

[NAME HERE]
- - - - - - - - - - - -
CLASS: [Class?]
SUBCLASS: [Awarded on completion of special quests, allows for more skills but less stat gain]

WEAPON: [Axe, Sword, Bow, Dagger, or Staff?]
[All classes can weild all weapons but only some classes get attack bonus]
ARMOR: [Light or Heavy]
[Again all classes can weild all armors but the light type gives a greater attack bonus while the heavy type has a nice fat defense bonus]

INVENTORY: [Your items typically are bolded here similar to the Village Thread V2 if they're active or equipped and item specifications are shown in the same color as the item. Important items have pictures to go along with them and have the green Q quest tag: Talk about work!]

BATTLE CAPACITY:
Defense: 1 [Add a bonus to this? Y/N]
[Defense is subtracted from the opponents offense to figure out damage]
Offense: 2 [Add a bonus to this? Y/N]
[Self explanatory]
Speed: 1 [Add a bonus to this? Y/N]
[The person with the most speed in a battle goes first!]
Guts: 0
[The more guts you have, the larger chance of a critical you get and the more of a chance you get a successful "parry" move, that completely negates any and all physical damage and, with magic attacks, rebounds them back at the enemy with half force. No starting bonus for this stat]
Health Points: 10/10
[Health Points? Oh come on, you should know what this is. If you run out of health points, than your character dies. Permadeath, too. Unless a cleric comes along. But that's a comical save and will probably happen, so try not to worry about it.]
Skill Points: 5/5
[a Skill Point is used up when you use a move or parry. But not when you use a Definition Attack, that's just capped by the skill points you currently have.]

[Be sure to remove anything in brackets from YOUR character sheet!]

Copa
- - - - - - - - - - - -
CLASS: Warrior
SUBCLASS:

WEAPON: A Large broad sword (is it ok?)
ARMOR: Medium(?) Armor.

INVENTORY:
Bread peace x3
A small skinning knife (Can be used in combat?)
A little sack (Empty)

BATTLE CAPACITY:
Defense: 1
Offense: 2  Id like to add bonus here please.
Speed: 1
Guts: 0
Health Points: 10/10
Skill Points: 5/5

I should have told you guys that you start with no inventory other than your backpack. Which holds your inventory.

Paradox that was.

Anyways, medium armor? What, do you take the incredibly defensive pants of heavy armor and the vesty shirty thing of some light armor and wear the two together?

...That actually seems like a good idea.

Copa wakes up in the large generic woody area of the Pewter Forest.

. . .

Wait, that doesn't sound right. Let me start again.

Copa wakes up in the generic and badly-lit cell of the evil warlock named Professor EvilMcDoomface, who is promptly defeated at the hands of a gust of wind. Suddenly, the tower in which the cell is placed in (Damsel in distress? No. Similar though) spontaneously explodes due to the resident evil villain falling out of the tower and Copa rockets to freedom, and after bouncing off several mountains he lands face first on a continently placed mattress in the town of Clonn.

A local native (A little red guy with a pointy nose) attempts to speak to you, but has to resort to speaking in hand signals.

"Bathroom, where is it?"

You point to a (what appears to be) nearby outhouse and he runs off in a mad panic to get inside. After a short while he returns and he hand signals something else.

"Thank you friend. Help, do you need it?"

How nice of him.

After this experience Copa has taken 9 damage out of 10.

Yes you might, do you know any clerics around here?
I got badly injured in an insedent.

[Edit from "huh"]

The red guy apparently really didn't understand you but apparently got the cleric part. Or the fact that you have bruises in places that don't exist.

He hand signals something to you. And than gives you something.

"This be red's potion. Drink well!"

Apparently this little guy's name is red. That's kinda generic, but hey, a name's a name.

You stupidly drink the potion and you actually take some damage. Which, in your state, is not the best thing ever, but than heal some in the process, knocking you out but at the same time keeping you conscious. You've heard of this kind of limbo-type state before, but forgot what it's called.

Either way, it both hurts and feels good at the same time. (-1,+12) Copa is brimming with energy to spare!

Im looking for some one to heal me (i got 1/10 HP no?)

lieing on the floor:"Oww my head"
Stands up.
Hey nice to meet you. My name is Copa.

The red guy points to the label on the now-empty potion bottle.

The one that shows in big red letters "Red's Potion".

. . .

After a few moments of awkward silence, you either have met a useful ally or you're confronted by your first enemy since that stupid warlock... And no, it's not Red, but at the moment, you can't exactly make it out what it is because it's shrouded in a purple mist.

It's probably an enemy due to the fact it's bearing down on you and the mist is slowly turning black.

Copa
encountered Some Sort of Monster!

It looks weak, so take it out with a single hit! (5/???)

The enemy moves quickly for the first move and unleashes a barrage of purple mist missles! Each about the size of your pinky finger.

A bunch of missles hit dead on, and Red gets hurt and collapses... But he's still breathing.

It's Copa's attack now. What'll you do?

I fastly jump to the left ,slightly light headed from the potion.
Run as fast as i can to the monster and slash him in two (mather of speach)

Copa connects with the monster and sends it reeling! (6DMG,+1)

The Some Kind of Monster explodes and reveals a treasure chest emitting a bright golden light. Huh... evil treasure chest. Wow, I didn't know that was possible.

Either way, Copa gains 20XP (Out of 40XP needed to the next level.)

Oh no, Red's hurt! You should do something! Now!

You also seem to be lightly poisoned from what was apparently a mist bullet. Which didn't hit you. At all.

Weird.

Take the little fallow Run. Find another "Red's potion" to make him drink it!

(I cant really follow you -_- where did the monster come from?)

You try to figure out where that monster of a treasure chest came from. All you know is that when you looked at red, it was behind him, but before that, it wasn't.

You search Red's person for another potion and find one, which you stuff into his mouth. He glows a bright red, stops breathing for a second (Much to your horror) and than jumps to his feet.

He makes a sound that sounds alot like "SPLEEEE!" and starts running around in circles.
