this one is my favorite

honestly console modding is just a plus for nintendo - it helps sell more units and keeps player engagement with the console. however since it allows illegal stuff to be done as well, they cant outwardly support it lest it be construed they encourage pirating and other illegal stuff.

i cant really defend or attack console modding because it basically allows you unmitigated access to every routine inside the game and gives you the ability to write incredibly unfair custom routines like wallhacks and stuff like that. it also completely compromises the source code which raises several legal and copyright issues. but on the other hand it also allows you to release overhauls and stuff like that or improve gameplay with your own custom content. i'd say it like this:

single player / coop games: modding ok
multiplayer games: modding not ok

im pretty glad though that nintendo has been taking down rom sites. it makes it so homebrew can be used for other purposes other than pirating games

so if i bought the switch on launch i should be okay?
maybe.

you can install homebrew at:
https://switchbrew.github.io/nx-hbl/

(they're not included the kernel exploits)

The Hidden Gem

some chuckleforget got in arguement with the writer for this. it was pretty far down there but it's worth all your time to read it.

so..... one can be supportive of child enthusiasm but not support child enthusiasm? where the hell is the distinction? if you're doing things to support something without actually mentally supporting it, you're going against your own value system...

lol what a waste.

just use a loving PC to do all this. stop buying all these side toys just to hack them into being stuffty PCs.
add nintendo to the list for idiots, with apple products.

I can understand the "why the hell would you do things you can already do on a PC to this device" bit, but that's not all it's for. It allows people to mod/translate existing games on the platform as well.
It also doubles as a tablet and not a bad one at that so on second thought, why not do this stuff to it?

Ill just lug around my loving desktop then, i guess?
Portability factor

There is a reason the PS3 stopped using linux.

This bullstuff like "Oh I'm just homebrewing and backing up save files" or "I just want to try it out, I'll buy it later" is total loving bullstuff because pirates outnumber responsible people by 500%

nintendo loses out on millions of loving dollars from pirates.

Online games are also compromised as a result and hackers in these online games are even more rampant.

Dark Souls on PC, full of hackers.

Dark Souls on PS4, I haven't seen one.
