Author Topic: firewatch devs hired by valve  (Read 3429 times)

Shut the forget up dismissive handicap. You're not cool because you say 4 word sentences acting like you're too loving stupid to understand them, while also spouting out nonsense about Reddit and acting out how you think a Reddit user to be.
calm down angry gamer just describe all of the posts that you have made with a sentence structure that isnt all over the place

Seems to be the guiding light for companies nowadays. If you get success for one thing all off your worries about having to be original, such is the case for every triple a company, valve and some indie devs
Ah yes. These guys that made that one game are going to start making valve's games exactly like they made that one game.

Do I need to make a sentence structure when just listing out things? No. There are plethoras of other loving posts that have done it and all you're here for is the satisfaction of Le Disproving me by posting stuff like you don't understand context and can't read it when you never made a complete sentence in the first place.

The game they're developing featured absolutely no combat and you just wandered around a place with someone else.

are they developing it or not

The game they're developing present tense featured past tense absolutely no combat and you just wandered past tense around a place with someone else.
maybe this can help u

Terraria -> otherworld
Garry's Mod » Sandbox
TF, Alien Swarm, CS all started out as quake or half life mods
Call of Duty
Some examples off the top of my head.
A way out is also literally Shawshank redemption
Wasn't otherworld a reimagening of terraria ?
Gmod was made like, 14 years ago. Sandbox could just possibly be an updated version of gmod.
Yes, that is indeed true, but all of those games are gameplay wise drasticaly different.
CoD is, and always will be, the fast and furious of videogames. It brings activision a stuffload of money for a relatively cheap price to make (rehashing the old engine, using old assets, etc.)
as for the way out thing, yes it is, but it was the ""first"" of its kind.

Right, but what does that have to do with city 17?
Think of yourself in their shoes. Would you honestly think in even the most insane sense that it would be a good idea to do what you're implying?
The examples you listed were all of games of the same genre, and most of the time, the same franchise. There would be literally no reason for them to turn a shooter into some stupid art stuff. And Valve obviously wouldn't let it happen either. Just because they were hired, doesn't mean they have freedom to do whatever they want. And as I said, even if they did have said freedom, it's extremely unlikely that they'd do that. They would probably continue to make their own games in their own style.

Or who knows. Maybe Artifact is going to be a collectible card game without combat, right?

What the forget did you just quote handicap?

Ok, so they're finishing a no-combat exploration game that they started before they were hired by valve - so what?

That doesn't mean they they're going to start making sequels to valve games without combat (like you suggested below).
guess youll also like wandering around abandoned city 17 with no combat whatsoever

1. "Reimagining" is just a marketing term for 'were gonna make the same game but imagine if it had a different plot or character". They had the same marketing for the epic Disney games and look where they went.
2. Then what's the point of making sandbox on unreal if it's gmod but more system heavy and will be released without any addons? It won't make back the money it costs.
3. But it still proves valve is unoriginal. None of their ips are original besides half life.
4. I guess you're right.
5. First of it's kind to copy a clearly iconic movie. Not JoJo "we'll take a name or two", just take the entire game

3. But it still proves valve is unoriginal. None of their ips are original besides half life.
So what?

So what?
they have stuck with what makes them the most money, and guess what was ported to source 2 and now has a card game

name one original game

Is it a sense of entitlement that is making this surprising for you, or are you just generally unaware that corporations invest in products that make them the most money?
