That's exactly what happened to me. I changed my motherboard a couple of months ago. I have a key, i've used it before on the same hdd. It goes away after i relaunch but it comes back. I've just learned to ignore it.

It's been rough. I've been struggling to make it past my 4th year and work a job at the same time. I've got about 30 more credit hours before my bachelors though so i'll just keep on moving until i fulfill those.

Yeah, your product key is bound to the motherboard when you register it. So switching motherboard will cause that to happen.
