Publishers publish the games, if you're telling me that every Xbox game is published by Microsoft, and every PlayStation game is published by Sony, then there is no such thing as an independent developer. These are stores not publishing companies. Valve publishes game on steam, Valve doesn't publish every game, only the games they have agreed to publish. Every game listing on steam says developers and publishers. Check em, how many say "Published by Steam".
