this particular black hole is insanely bright, the reason the light doesn't drown out the rest of the image is that they filtered out all the other frequencies

what you are seeing is an ultra low frequency representation of the light. the stuff around the black hole that creates the light is matter swirling around it and creating immense amounts of radiation and heat
