This is not about the Confederacy. The Confederacy was an entry point, just like the national socialists. No one with any sense would defend these two factions. So they inch forward labeling more and more things confederate or national socialist.

Also the statues are merely indications of their greater goal to block these people out of history entirely. Placing statues in a museum vs destroying them outright has two very different intentions.

just to get this straight u think those statues exist because the people who built them thought they'd serve as an effective reminder of what not to do?
do u ever notice how it's only tribals who get mad about the statues being torn down

statues should just stop being made or be put in museums

a lot of you seem to not remember those confederate statues where put up in the early 1900s as a response to the civil rights movements, they were not war memorials, they where white supremacist monuments.

literally look at this graph of when they were built and tell me they weren't retroactively placed to combat civil rights.

anyone who worships the cult of monuments to stuffty people is dumb. there is no situation that would need anyone to have a statue even if they founded a country or did something good. cult of personality is horrible and stupid, whether its Stalin or Washington, no one needs a statue.

also literally where were all of you guys complaining about the people toppling statues in other countries like in Iraq? I remember the US media showing how brave Iraq citizens were pulling down the statues of their oppressors, yet we have to keep and worship these stuffty statues forever in our own country. Because apparently, removing them is exactly like instantly burning the hundreds of thousands of books and nuking the vast and expansive archives of knowledge that document US history(that none of you loving read).

I see the constant inhalation of dog stuff fumes has rendered your brain almost entirely inert. No one said anything about treating the statues as celebratory. There are other methods than removal to fix the problem. Even a simple plaque saying "This guy sucked, but he was apart of the history of this town/country, so big shrug" would do. somebody please make a statue of my big massive erect rooster so in 100 years when someone wants to take it down because "its in bad taste" or "it turned my son gay" they can't do it because its historically significant and thus now invulnerable to disturbance

yeah totally bro we should've kept all the swastikas and Riddler statues around Germany too or all the stalin statues in Moscow. but make sure to put a small plaque next to it to say how they were big meanies

No, statues aren't exclusively celebratory. Sometimes they are to remember. Seriously. Sometimes they're just art. But many of the CONFEDERATE statues were made very late, and would be justified to LEGALLY RELOCATE. not DESTROY.

As far as FOUNDING FATHERS, destroying and relocating them because they didn't grow up in the 21st century is asinine. If you were put back into the 1770s, you would not have done any differently. Say all you like that you would, but you wouldn't. The fact that you don't want to call out things that are blatantly wrong now prove this. California removing anti-discrimination laws and Blatant Anti-White and Anti-Asian sentiment and segregation actions are taking place nationwide.

But you won't so much as call it out, let alone try to stop it.

Monuments are left behind to establish history and prevent rehashes of the past. Putting them in museums only lessens the impact or the point of the statue being in a public space. These objects are here to inspire critical thinking. If a long-deceased figure in a public park upsets you, then that's on you, not the statue. You have a problem, removing the statue won't fix it. There are other alternative actions than violence against property and violence against state.
