Making script admin-only?

Author Topic: Making script admin-only?  (Read 9985 times)

I haven't trolled this thread at all, the answer to the topic was already posted, the problem was solved, the author did not complain, it is an informational topic. I never said the content or syntax of Falcondude's reply was wrong, I was commenting on the style he uses to script. I know from experience that a lot of professional companies require you to program in one style, and it will almost certainly be the one I've described. So think of it as a favor of sorts. If people break the habit now and go into programming, they'll be much better off.

Its also interesting to note that you didn't even comment on the obvious troll in this thread?

I don't see why you have to tell us what to do?

Because I like to think that most of the people on these forums aren't ignorant douchebags like yourself, and would like to be notified when they do something "incorrectly".

What I don't see is why you think you have the right to waltz onto these forums, troll around, and then feel its your right to question my motives.

you're site doesn't load

I don't use it currently, so I stopped paying hosting fees. I have a portfolio site elsewhere though.

Does that really matter? If you look at any of his mods, you can tell right there that he's FAR beyond pretty much anyone else in the community.

Also, about the whole format topic, I'm glad that he's brought it up and showed me a different way; it's great to know another way to do things.

It's a coding style, you shouldn't be forced to do things the "correct" way by someone.

Besides, if it was wrong to put braces on the same line then torque's compilers wouldn't compile it.

You are being incredibly ignorant, not to mention poking around where you are most definitely not welcome. I have stated previously that brackets on their own lines is a widely agreed method of professional programming. It doesn't really apply to you because you're just a script kiddie, but I figured (and was obviously correct, judging by Falcondude's response) that people might like to learn about the different styles and which ones are generally used.

It depends entirely on how bracket-blind the writer is, if they miss brackets that aren't on their own line, then they'll put them on their own lines in order to see them.

Obvious trolls don't deserve mention.  I generally just ignore them.  Styles are a matter of opinion.  And while it’s true that a large portion of industry prefers the style you discussed, it would be ignorant to act like no other style exists.  It would also be ignorant to assume that a particular style will never change.  The nice thing about styles in coding is that there are plenty of programs and IDEs that feature the ability to make a piece of code conform to one style or another.

Now, I didn't just blindly accuse you of trolling without a good reason.  I made sure to double check my understanding of the term.
Brackets shouldn't be on the same line as anything else generally
This is the controversial point that derailed the topic.  I'm not saying that you are a troll; I'm saying that your post was along the lines of trolling.  I've heard many complaints about how you have been treating people, and it's stuff like this that can hurt a reputation.

thanks for support BlueGreen
Usually I ignore trolls, but since you addressed me, I thought I should let you know I am not supporting you in any way.  I made my post without any consideration of anything you wrote beyond your second reply to this thread (I also ignored your first reply since you were just demonstrating your ignorance there).  There is no reason to pry into someone's personal life on the Blockland forums, so you should quit trying now.

I think that is my reputation. I'm not here to babysit the idiots of this community, of which there are uncountable hundreds.

Ok, my mistake, I'm sorry.  I honestly didn't know that's how you liked it.  I won't bother you on this subject again.

You don't have to babysit, you can help them and help reduce the amount of idiots. Instead of making posts that help no one in no way.

You're the ignorant one. You have no right telling me whether I can post on these forums, they're Badspot's forums. I am not just a script kiddie. I am learning how to code (Not TorqueScript, I have moved onto C++). If you call that a script kiddie, then nearly every coder is a script kiddie.

This is correct, his reputation is being a complete ass to everyone who doesn't kiss his ass.

Oh I do love good drama.

Would you like sum popcorn monty? :D
