how do you make gifs as avatars?

are you not saving it as a gif maybe? It shouldn't be any different then just changing your pfp to a simple png.

Was about to mention this. I believe since then the size has been increased (or rather, reset back to the SMF default) sometimes you just have to play around with compression/size until the full gif uploads, otherwise it will be a still image

This is all you have to do, really. I tried compressing my gif to different file sizes and after enough tries it worked. Just use ezgif's compression tool and try over and over again until you get it right.
