Author Topic: Is there ever going to be a update on Blockland  (Read 503 times)

Title says it all, the last ever update was in 2020 but before that it was in 2013. Big 7 year difference. The only times blockland may ever get updated is whenever someone finds a vulnerability and tries to destroy blockland for no reason at all, blockland may be old and probably doesn't have that much players unlike back then but it's still a good game at the end of the day. We all grew up with blockland and you probably had someone make a drama thread on you for being a badmin. We've experienced alot of stuff playing blockland throughout the years even despite other people saying Brickadia is the successor but in fact it's not, brickadia doesn't have the things blockland had and brickadia kinda just feels like a brick rigs knockoff instead of blockland.

Thing is, some youtubers make videos on blockland talking about how nostalgic and we even had a roblox ugc blockhead package before but yet people don't even try to play blockland.

What I am saying is there should be at least one more update and then we have to wait for some years until the last update comes around, also make it so you can change your name for only a month.

Blockland has kinda been in the hands of mod developers for a while now. We've only gotten what I consider as basically bugfix and feature updates since the release of v21.  The closest thing we're getting to an "official update" as of current is on another branch of Blockland called Blockland Rebuilt.

I would certainly love for there to be more official updates to this game, or some type of merge between this and some of the great changes / compatibility features that Rebuilt has made. Or at the very least release an update which unobfuscates the main blockland cs.dso files, and let us edit those directly as a normal .cs files and be able to run the game with our modifications that way.

I am just hoping there's an eventual resolution to the bandaid fix regarding name changes. I sent an email regarding it to Badspot in 2023 and it went entirely ignored.

I mean, to be fair, how many 20 year old games still get updates?

Minecraft is 16 years,
TF2 is 18 years,
Roblox is 19 years,
World of Warcraft is 21 years,
EVE Online is 22 years
Etc

That's 5 out of like, a lot. I know some do but my point is most don't.

yeah that's 5 MASSIVELY (or previously massive) games that are exceptions to the rule. as compared to who knows how many hundreds of games are the around the same age as Blockland that have become abandonware.
