Does Blockland mask your IP?

Author Topic: Does Blockland mask your IP?  (Read 2002 times)

As the title says

My dad is freaked out over me hosting a server because he thinks it's basically giving away your personal information to a flock of people almost completely bent on hurting the hoster.

I figure giving proof that proving him wrong would right the situation, for atleast Blockland.

So yeah, does Blockland mask your IP address from visitors?

I'm almost sure they can't do anything with your IP

To back my statement up here is mine.

Whois database ftw.

Sorry for the triple post, but taking this out onto the field I've discovered it'll take a lot of time to get it right. Blockland tries connecting to 9 IPs. Any of which could be the host. Unless I'm missing something.

Your IP is transmitted every time you do anything on the internet.  You cannot "mask" your IP address.  It simply isn't sensitive information.

As for proof, I know how to use a computer and your dad doesn't.  Sorry if that sounds rude but I'm just tired of dealing with this myth.

As with Gingerjoe, this is mine:
24.8.91.149
And a picture:

It's impossible to "mask your IP". Unless you mean 192.168.-.-, then it's possible to mask that IP.

They can't really do anything with 69.250.188.114.

Well, that is the address to a provider in Cincinnati: Cincinnati Bell.

Yes, parents overreact to every thing and kids are dumb ass these days. As for people who some how have gotten hacked are most likely people who've downloaded a virus and didn't know and blamed it on a hacker or have no idea what a hacker is.
