Author Topic: Server Ranking System  (Read 3475 times)

Well I've realized that due to so many noob servers, Hardly any non-noobs play Blockland anymore. It seems every time i play Blockland theres not even one good server anymore. So how about this. We all vote on 10-20 representatives who will give each server a rank of 1-5. The choice could be exclusive to high ranked forum members. The best servers would have 5 star ranks while the worst would have 1. This would help newbies find the best servers while preventing them from going to the worst.

Another idea would to have those high ranked forum members chose people who's servers are fun and then put some sort of star next to them. And maybe a skull next to servers hosted by people with bad reputations.

Feel free to express any thoughts you have about this idea.

That rather defeats the point of paying for the privilege to host servers, doesn't it?

Even if you did use this system, you wouldn't have any more good servers - you'd still have the same number. Its a totally thoughtless suggestion.

we'd be as bad as ROBLOX if we had this

A recommended server status, sure, but hosting permit, no.

I think that this isnt a great idea, but it would make servers funner(?).
What I was really thinking of, is this:
An application.
You fill it out, before joining.
And the server host must approve it.
If he/she approves, you can join.
If he/she disapproves, you have to be ASKED to join.

uhm, thats even stupider, because then:

1) host is bugged with "will you let ___ join" messages
2) the host will generally become pissed off and just set it to disaprove all mode which means less people will get into games.

Why the hell do you need to monitor who joins your game, with an application even, when you could just let anyone in and ban them as necessary.

Anyways, the hosting permit is more crap, it means more work for badspot, setting up systems to keep certain IDs from hosting and other stuff for hosting permit applications, and in general its just handicapped.

Yes. Perhaps a 5 star rating system for servers. But the problem with that is that with all the noobs, the most visited bad servers will get good ratings. There would need to be a system for preventing noobs from voting.

Just trust me that this won't happen. Nobody (i'm talking relevant people here) is going to bother making a server rating system that rejects votes from noobs.

Go to a roblox video on youtube... all the people from roblox rate it 5 stars. It's only fair to let everyone vote.

Seriously, all this crap is pointless.

Relevant people (N)

:Any people that Ephialtes counts as relevant.

Four: By proving they are an experienced and valued member of the Blockland community.
How are you supposed to do 4? If it requires a vote no one would vote because they don't feel like it or our very large noob population would upset the vote by voting "no" for fun. Plus, what about private servers? What if two newbs can't pass the test so they can't build co-op in a passworded server?

Last time I checked, Badspot had this number at four people.

Brainwave! How about everyone votes on a selection of people who are somewhat valued members of the community (but not really) who then go on to vote for a selection of valued members of the community who then go on to vote for a server to be considered to be inspected for a final vote carried out by one person voted by the voted valued members who were voted by the somewhat valued members and this vote then carries on to badspot who can manually audit the server and award them a vote to get a hosting permit.
