Author Topic: gamma issue with portal  (Read 3529 times)

i downloaded "Portal_playground_V1" and i installed it, but when i go to play it the gamma makes the level real bright, kinda annoying, i disabled Bloom, HDR, Color correction, and even tried cracking down on my brightness, no good D:

is there like some console command or fancy trick to fix it?

I think the level's supposed to be bright...

screenshot?

THIS bright?

:O

It seems your colors are a little messed up too. Have you tried putting everything to default?

Also, mind telling me how to load the map?

To change the map you type this in the console:
"changelevel <insert mapname here>"
Also, there is a console command to fix the brightness.... But I forgot it.
Try loading up a normal portal map then load portal playground.

There was a console command that adjusted the lighting.... But the site that I found the map on and had that code as a solution is broken....
I think it was sv_fullbright or something like that....

mat_fullbright.

Also, decompile the map and make sure that isn't what it is really supposed to look like.

how2decompile

I'm kinda new to hammer :/

edit: mat_fullbright help ALOT, but now it looks somewhat like a simple GMOD map, but i can cope with that

edit2: also i saw some videos on youtube of this map and they weren't so bright

I think its vmex that decompiles it. I haven't used it in a long time so I wouldn't know. Google it.

Run the map in HDR, it kinda fixes.

does Bloom HDR work, because mah graphics card does not support HDR methinks D;

or at least i can only pick Bloom in the HDR Menu :/

edit: phooy, no work D: also i got a NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285 for those who want to know (Old card my dad had laying around)

Quadro NVS cards are for business workstations

i know that, but its better then mah old one, old one can barely run Crysys/EP2, and this one chugs Crysis fine (slow down here and there but not much) and runs EP2 faster then my other one but still lowish frames rates. me and my dad are going to wait a few years for the price on the 8800GT's to drop quite a bit before getting one

Where did you get those cube skins.
