Author Topic: What is the infamous "RTB"!  (Read 924 times)

I have heard a lot form it, but there is one think that really holds me back .What is it  is a mod for Retail,or juat a "New" type of bl? Oh and one last thing i saw the RTB wed stie will it have all the stuff in 2.0 in V9?

RTB 1 was a total conversion mod for Blockland v0002 (Often referred to as Alpha Blockland). It added many things for the alpha that you see in Retail today, like saving/loading, minigames, bots, doors, vehicles and more. RTB spawned a bunch of other people to make other conversion mods such as TBM (Which everyone hated), SFM (A total DM version) and AiO (Some mod that no one cares about.). Basically, RTB 1 made Alpha more fun.

When Retail was released, this caused what I call The Great Divide. Almost all of the people bought retail immediately and you can still see them on the forums (Facechild, Randy, etc. ). Some bought retail with no knowledge of 0002 (You, other people etc. ). Some didn't like retail for awhile, got to use someone elses key for a bit and then enjoyed it enough to buy it (Me, MrCookie, etc. people), while some people refused to play Retail, insisted on calling it Rephail or richardphail, and tried to make their own mod for 0002 but failed in development of it, stopped playing 0002 and played other games ( (RW), [PYRO], [ION] ). Some people just went "WTF?" and went to ROBLOX (Thank god, no one.)

No edit button. :(

tl;dr: Total conversion mod for old blockland alpha (0002).

Caused big giant divide in community. Half went to Retail, half went stayed on 0002, starved from lack of people enjoying 0002 and went to Retail or played other games (Most commonly GMod)

Brief history lesson:
Once upon a time, Badspot made a game for fun called blockland.  People liked this game, so he started thinking about making a retail version.  After a showing on the show called "screen savers", Blockland's community grow immensely over night.  There was a problem though.  While Badspot was working on making a retail version and trying to get Lego licensing, the community was left with a sub-par game that left allot of problems, including brick lag, no trust and the lack of saving (So, you make a build, and it starts to lag, and then some random n00b pops in the server, then start hammering everything, and soon your building is gone, and you can't load it, because there is no loading.)  This lead to the rise of several mods.  At first several mods had equal support of the community, as well as some people still playing the origonal blockland.  After a long competition (and a few ownings on Badspot's part) to put out many features and whatnot, RTB became the leading mod used.  RTB had many features, most notably the editor wand.  This was a tool that allowed users to first plant a brick, then hit the brick with the wand and go in to edit mode.  When in edit mode, a user could change the scale, rotation, and even move the brick.  This was originally made to reduce lag by reducing the amount of bricks that need to be used, but soon evolved into making blockland a modeling like program.  After the release of retail Blockland, RTB became obsolete.  Users slowly pored over from RTB into Retail, but a few have remained behind because of the cost and computer requirements.   Today RTB 1.x, as it has been recently called, still has a few community members, though almost all have moved to retail due to retail being allot better.  Currently RTB 2.0 is in production, and will again make improvements were blockland needs it most by having an ingame mod downloader, and many other features that can be seen in the topic in the modification section.

Wow, you guys really dident have to type that much but thanks anyways .Oh and will it be in V9 like the sever fetrue and the loading srceen tips?
