Fuel Mod Idea
[/size][/b][/i][/u]

Hey guys,

I've been thinking and i know there are some epic moders out there so I came up with an idea, why not make a fuel mod for vehicles?

There would be a bar on the left that tells how much fuel you have (eg. 100/100) and you can wrench a brick to make it fuel the vehicle up when you drive on it.

If you can make it...thnx I guess...

This is a good idea i would say it is probably simple to do but i do not know how to script.

Been suggested before I believe but it would be just added fun for things like Fuel Stations and RP.

There doesn't seem to be a way to make vehicles use energy when driving, only when 'jetting', which doesn't work since you just climb out of the vehicle like that now. It might be possible to charge you energy for moving (use C and shift for slow driving but more fuel efficiency?) but it would also take fuel to be shot out of cannons and be impulsed by rockets, unless there is a clever way to determine this.

Agreed, if it is too hard to make it only when you are in any random vehicle, maybe you could make one spacific vehicle that goes with the mod and has the bar somewhere on it or the screen when you drive it.

yeh because horses do not need fuel lol
But to that, it would be cool if you could have little speed ups for a horse, like in LOZ,  when you get little things and you click them and it makes your horse go faster,  that would be a neat alternative for player vehicles,   But also, what about ball and weighted cube?

They only move with assistance from a player anyway, you can't get in and drive them.

Maybe it only costs fuel if you are touching the ground, that would solve the impulse cannon costing you fuel.

It should definitely be based on your speed - drive slow and conserve fuel or get to a situation quickly but have to fill up.

Also a single-use emergency fuel can would be nice. Buy them at fuel stations?

But the faster you go, the more fuel efficient your vehicle is.

It would be better for RPGs and things to make people drive think and slower so they don't kill each other or buy extra fuel if they want to get somewhere faster.

Doesn't it depend on the car itself and the gear your car is in? It's more efficient to drive fast in fifth gear, but more efficient to drive slower in first...

I read somewhere that idling uses the most gas. :cookieMonster:

Yeah; there's a certain speed where it's most efficient. I believe it's 80-90 km/h (50-60mph?).

Fuel efficiency would be something like fuel used/distance. 0 distance gets you horrible efficiency; infact, it'd be universe-killing bad  :cookieMonster:

The idea of going faster taking more fuel and such is great but will this make it harder to actually make this mod?

Not really. I just need a non-laggy way to find out if the vehicle is on the ground and driving without assistance from impulsers/coasting - raycasts, box searches and schedules are bad in large amounts.

There isn't a direct check for whether a person is holding 'Forwards', clientside things could be hacked.

maybe this would work with money mod? you have to buy fuel at a gas station and "fill 'er up" with like price/gallon, nice idea.

Horses eat beans for fuel.
