Author Topic: Statue of Liberty  (Read 6198 times)

Your teacher is a dumbforget.

So true.

Oh yeah and the build becomes a 10/10 from me.

Ok, the Statue of Liberty was never white, is was a copper color. It was made in France, that is correct, but never white. How can Copper be white? The frame might have been white, but the statue itself, no. The water did help the statue turn the color patina, which is the pale green color, but  the water itself did not do it all. Water AND Oxygen turned it patina. Water and Oxygen breaks down iron. Now, SHUT UP about this "why it's pale green" argument!

Thank you guys for commenting on my photos. Those of you who aren't part of this argument, I thank you.

I approve the previous post because I had to do a project on the Statue of Liberty. Pretty good build.

Finally, someone new with a bit of building skill! (At least, I THINK you're new.) Yeah, apply for something non-fail: JawA for teh lawlz (put sand around it -_-), PPT, or summat.

10/10 from me.

Open further study, salt increase oxidation. Apologizes to Sparrow.

I say the improvement is a 8.9/10

The arm must be extended that is holding the book so it doesn't appear like she's holding herself, and also, it needs to be color changed and finally, there needs to be a hand holding the torch amirite?

White?

Used to be Copper pigment colored, so it's supposed to be green/blueish.

That faded away over time though.

The exposure on that photo is jacked up.  The statue is pale green.  Why am I reminded of that GDC 2005 thread where you guys were convinced that the guy behind me was staring at a blank monitor?

The statue is made of copper on an iron frame, it slowly oxidised and turned a seasick blue-green, as most copper compounds do.

I never knew it was made of copper, I always thought it was made of concrete or some other cement type material, then painted with a copper oxide.

Let's hope copper thieves never get their hands on a barge crane.

Monty is correct. The statue was delivered from France in 1886. Back then, its was just a simple copper colour. After a while it; as most copper compounds do when exposed to oxide; it turned into a blueish-green and now it is just a sea sick green, look at the wiki picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statue_of_liberty

And, I seriously Lol'd at Muffin Mix.

so when I said I was making a bigger one, if found out I have to make changes... first off... the suggestions you guys give me... second of... the crown is supposed to have 7 little spikes, 1 for each continent. Since it's bigger, it should look better. post any changes I might need to make... and don't say anything about the color... it's getting frustrating. Plus, there are more than one statue of liberty, see, this is in Las Vegas... not the real one... it's white. the real one was never white.
