Author Topic: how's the download system in v9 gonna work?  (Read 3049 times)

sweet. instant auto-extract.

I've also noticed that badspot doesn't post much, but then again, he is really busy......or atleast i hope he is busy and should. >.>

Almost every gun add-on will need to be fixed...
Thank you. We have far too many guns already. This should swipe some of them off.

Almost every gun add-on will need to be fixed, because there have been loads of changes to the way bullets work, the emitters they use etc. Its not a case of re-arranging the files, there is some work to be done to make them v9 compatible and hopefully this will help purge us of all the crappy addons (see: /pee, banana/homing missile)

Osh... Oh.. My....

I gotta re-script all of my weapons when this happens...

BTW, does anyone know at least what year or month will v9 come?

I really need to know what will change so I can fix my weapon scripts.
Oh gawd... the spells!

I'm gonna reinstall blockland when V9 comes out, to get rid of all those add-ons i downloaded way-back when and cannot bring myself to delete

Excellent idea!

No, it simply calls the files directly from the .zip.  No extraction is necessary.  It sees .zips just like folders.

you know what i mean, and that's what i meant.

Ah, I didn't know he was changing any thing like this...

At least they might work right now :P

thats why I'm gonna reinstall blockland when V9 comes out, to get rid of all those add-ons i downloaded way-back when and cannot bring myself to delete
The v9 updater automatically deletes all the old add-ons and updates the file structure.

sounds sweet.

hopefully, my "no bullet damage" prob with my guns will be fixed.

i think the new add-ons system for V9 is gonna make a good improvement.

I take it that it's working now?

Not entirely true.  Old Add-On stuff will probably be archived in a folder so you won't lose anything you want to keep.  However, I'd still recommend a clean install.

I wish he would have a post that tells us of the relitive % that he is done. I know he did it with V8 with a sort of list that told of things needed to be done.

We even werent updated to what's going on right now.

It better, but you will not be able to use the old add-ons.

Thing is with a clean install, you have to impute all your settings, then again you'll have allot of left over variables from old add-ons that you won't use.

Does the new projectile emitters mean emitters will stop with the projectile's death?

The v9 updater automatically deletes all the old add-ons and updates the file structure.
Instead, how about simply moving them to a new directory (either the updater moves the old add-ons, or v9 has a different add-ons directory)? That way, no information is lost.

Update: Nevermind, Trader said what I wanted to hear. Dilt, away!
