If it is true that in v9 we will need to redownload our addons, does that mean that all the "old" addons that the links are down for, will be... gone?

if the add on is in a zip, you can still use it

and if its not, put it in one

No, just zipping it won't work. Every single add-on will need to be repackaged and re-released, for the most part.

I think there will be 2 good things and 2 bad things about it.
Good:
It will help filter out some bad mods.
All add-ons will be installed correctly.

Bad:
Many n00bs will keep asking "how do i package add-ons!?!?!?!"
We might lose some good Add-Ons because the creator left.

The good add-on makers will actually know how to package, no worries. Ths stuffty ones won't understand how to, and will keep blockland SORT OF clean.

I'm wondering if V9 will actually solve the problem. I mean, sure, it will essentially "erase" all of the existing crap that we have, but won't those same fools go back to making more gun mods as soon as they figure out how to package them?

I wouldn't say ALL of them are... the vast majority are, agreed.

Mind you the people who make good add-ons aren't complaining.
