Doom  is a 1993 computer game by id Software that is a landmark title in the first-person shooter genre, and in first person gaming in general. It is widely recognized for pioneering immersive 3D graphics, networked multiplayer gaming on the PC platform, and support for custom expansions (WADs).
Distributed as shareware, Doom was downloaded by an estimated 10 million people within two years, popularizing the mode of gameplay and spawning a gaming subculture; as a sign of its effect on the industry, games from the mid-1990s boom of first-person shooters are often known simply as "Doom clones".
Its graphic and interactive violence has also made Doom the subject of much controversy reaching outside the gaming world. According to GameSpy, Doom was voted by industry insiders to be the greatest game of all time in 2004.
And also it beats the loving crap out of halo

The first dooms were great, Doom3 is loving terrible.

QFT

The first dooms were great, Doom3 is loving terrible.

3 was quite good unless your some "Original is only best" type of person. Doom was epic and still is, Doom 3 was really good, it had some realism to it unlike most sci-fi games these days. Doom 3 pretty much was a type of modern Doom, I mean if it was just like the old doom but 3D it'd be very hard to work with and wouldn't be very good. Doom 3 wasn't stuff or crap it was awesome, I played the hole thing Co-op with my friend and it was epic fun. The only terrible thing about doom 3 was its expansion pack, so basic, kill 20 monsters then fight a boss, then kill another 20 monsters and fight a boss.

Doom is awesome, since there's a ton of mods for it I can play it just like a FPS with free look and jumping, brings back the game to life :D

I dislike doom3 because of how dark it is and the lack of ammunition provided.
I couldn't see anything, not a single zombie, and on-top of that I was constantly looking for ammo.

Wow. Are you serious?

1. It being dark adds mood, but I agree how it can be annoying since its dark through 99% of the game.

2. The lack of ammunition again adds mood, making you feel vulnerable (which is what i love in FPS's, I hate being "Tony Testosterone Tits" in FPS's.).

3. Use your flashlight (they make you use this instead of having some helmet attatched flashlight or something for again, mood.

4. Plenty of zombies, but after the beginning it slowly evolves into hellish monsters.

5. Looking for ammo is fun, I find it realistic.

1. The only mood it adds is frustration when trying to find your way or the zombie that is attacking you.

2. I love being "Tony Testosterone Tits" in FPS's. Makes it more fun. Realism is good, but they overdid it.

3. No dammit. IMO, a flashlight in a FPS should only be used in certain situations, not through 99% of the game. (eg. Half life)

4. I meant I couldn't see a single zombie that was attacking me, not that there weren't none.

5.No it's not, again, it's frustrating and takes away from the feel of being  "Tony Testosterone Tits".

I agree with most of this, actually.

Also pointing out call of duty 4, I like it because it mixes the feel of being vulnerable and "Tony Testosterone Tits."

You forgot to write that it's loving better than halo.

Exactly, you must tell noobs about how its better than halo!

Also, Doom3 just doesn't have the same mood as DooM. The mood went from "Run in there and blow the $%## out of everything that moves" to "OMG A SCARY MONSTER RUN AWAY UNTILL YOU FIND AMMO"

I quit playing Doom3 after I had played it for several hours without getting to shoot anything.

I never could get into Doom3, since when were doom games into the whole Horror genre? I liked it better when it was just "Murder Everything"
