It doesn't need the thing at the front, that is for the secondary attachment. Which is not a pistol, its actually a grenade launcher.

That, my friend, is a sniper rifle. Big difference.

 Also, another idea... you COULD make it so that when you press the "L" key, you will switch to the Grenade Launcher (Make two models, one with and one without the grenade launcher). Sort of like Space Guy's Portal Gun.

"L" Key is light on (default). But you mentioned the Portal Gun, that used Mouse 2 as an ALT fire. The Flak Cannon also had a grenade ALT fire...
