Author Topic: Who thinks There should be a Commercial For Blockland?  (Read 4831 times)

I think Badspot should stick with Banner Adverts For now, untill at least the game is very populated for example WoW has well over a couple million players and it barely ever adertises itself. Come to think of it the only WoW commercial I've ever seen has been the one telling you that you can get a free 15 day trial.
Same with Runescape a couple million players, never a ad on TV. In other words i think Badspot should wait a bit.

I've never seen an ad for WoW or Runescape ever.

that would be awesome a commercial for blockland good idea :cookie:

We're comparing BL to highly publicised MMOs that only want profit now?

You haven't seen the Mr. T one?

"im mr.t and im a night elf mohawk."
then is the ford comerical were some WoW player gets a truck.
and some one made a you tube ad http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K82Bl9QWvbc
altho you tube is known to atract tards and other unwanted scum.

I think Blockland could be doing better on advertising with out making a commercial. There's a ton of places I could post Blockland that'd really look into it as a great game but its a matter if Badspot minds as well as gather some information and crap that'd will catch peoples eye. But thats some thing I should probably do anyway seeing as I play Blockland so much and cause so many problems just playing the game.

If someone could make a good video showing all the aspects of Blockland and making it about 2-4 minutes long you could send it to gametrailers.com

Darkstar, your commercial can be more Blocko by possibly making the words bricks, and when the words appear it could look like they were being macroed.

ATTENTION:

I know Badspot and his sponsors are wealthy.

6000 [users] * $20.00 = $120,000
That's about a years worth of money at a well paying job.

But I have been to seminars about TV Advertising, and the kiddies on this forum think that advertising is cheap, it's not. During the superbowl, :25 seconds of ad time is a mere 2.4 million dollars, if you were to run the ad locally with the cable provider. Damn!

Heres the verdict:
1) TV time would be FAR FAR FAR out of the budget.
2) Hell, why would it happen anyway?
3) IF it DID happen, BL would be over run by noobs just like HabboHotel, because they marketed, and BAM!, millions of users signed up, and based on reviews, the game is too over-populated to play anymore, just like China.
4) The people who think that TV time is possible, you're most likely equal to or less than 12 years old.

INTERNET ADVERTISING:

WITHOUT A DOUBT, Internet Video-based Marketing is easily possible. With a 2 minute commercial, you could send it in to many advertising firms and have them broadcast it on various websites, as a flash banner ad, easily enough.

And you could reach a more targeted audience over the internet.

Verdict:
1) Badspot has tried static-based image advertising on 'lego' websites. Not so specific, he may need to go bigger.
2) Video is more elegant than an advertisment with a little blocko guy and the games name. Who the hell would click on that? But with a video, it would be far more easier to target him/her and bring her to the site, where she/he would spend his/her hard earned $20.
3) It's cheaper than TV. (Yes, thats right you younglings).

Conclusion:
With a mere $120,000, it may seem a lot to the young eye, but it's not. You would need to make at least 30 times more than that to keep a steady TV ad going on a well known station. PBS, no.

For the tenth time, he only makes $9 off of every game.

What is that considering?

AND FOR THE 10TH TIME, he only makes .30 of each game sold.

child support for 12 kids :p

I'm making one to a remix (mine) that is approx. 16-20 secs long. Yaaay. I don't expect it to be professionally good but I reckon I can get a good few views from it (irrelevant YTube tags ftw)

Actually, someone already made a commercial but wasn't picked because of not that much gameplay. Go to newgrounds and search Blockland. I don't feel like putting link. lol
