Actually, me and a friend found a perfect way to prevent the Red Ring. Its easy to!

Place your xbox on the box that it came in, open up one side of the box for ventilation. The heat gets drawn into the box and vented out through the open flap.

Win.

It won't work, I apparently damaged my xbox by plugging it in "wrong."

First I am no fanboy, I may get an Xbox sometime, and I was looking into the red ring thing, and I found one where they added washers between the heatsink and the GPU. (11111th Post in Games)

Your screwed :D

Actually, what we do is, we unplug the power plug from the back of the XBox, blow into the scoket and on the cord, and plug it back up

Red Ring is gone, idk how.

why don't 360 users just prevent it all, and remove the whole frikin cover of the unit.
sure it looks like crap, but its 400 dollars cheaper.

but at the end of the day, ALL consoles fail :P

It takes about a month, judging from the 2 red rings I've had so far.

Voids warranty, could allow more dust into the system. Oh, and ugly

Well, I've got my answer. It takes about a month, says Carzo and someone else on the first page. That should be just right if I send it the day before I go to India, because it will be repaired and sent back when I get back.
