Author Topic: Rigging (rope) bricks.  (Read 2287 times)

Repost from RTB forums Feb 04, 2008.

"I mentioned this back in the beta, but I don't think it caught on. This idea involves two bricks that have a line, similar to the laser, running between them. My main inspiration for this idea came from ships (lol) where I wanted to "rig" it with ropes to make a more realistic feel. I'm not sure how complicated this would be, but it would drastically help a lot of builds."

That is a great idea, now your thinking out of the blox.

I remember reading this, it was good.

The only reason i would want this is for obstacle course tightwalk's.

Oh I thought you meant rig and in a line of wire that you run and it explodes. 0_0
But no, this idea would be helpful. Could even be used as powerlines for city RPGs.

A GMod style rope tool where you could choose rope style and thickness? Or maybe it could be an alternative to bricks in vertical builds?

This would be a very helpful mod.

To make ropes? Just use wrench events...

maybe make it a vehicles that attaches.. or..

Nah i dont know.

Using impulse bricks won't let us climb down and even if we can jump down what if fall damage is on then what?

This shouldn't be too difficult; I've even thought about making this before. I would need a rope model with one end at the center of the model and the other end at 0 0 1, if anyone wants to make that for me. It should use the blank texture. I'd do it myself but I can't for the life of me figure out how to flatshade in Blender :(.

No one said he wants to go down..

No one said he wants to go up.

Right but isnt the purpose of a rope is to go up and down, impulse bricks don't do that

You're getting off topic. The ropes are cosmetic, not for climbing.
