Author Topic: The Tower: A Challenge in Building.  (Read 2516 times)

So, recently, I had the idea of Building a Skyscraper. Yeah simple Idea, but there was a Catch. This was going to be a challenge, so, we followed the perameters:
1. No jets Whatsoever.
2. We had to Build it the Classic way: Girders, Scaffolding, Drywall, The works...
3. No macros.
Builders:
1. Yuki
2. Illidan
3. Ghoul
4. GuyD
5. []---[]
6. Cheeseburger
7. Glue-Stick Gene
8. M-117
(If I forgot names, please tell me)

Well, it was fun. We built 23 Floors, and we hit some Major snags on the way, but we eventually got it. It took 3 Days, from 9-10AM to 2AM. With minor Breaks every so often.

Some of the beginning pictures are lost in Translation, sorry. Actually, all of them were. I think GuyD has some, same with MuffinMix. Nevermind, I got 'em.

The Beginning Was rough, having to formulate our next moves.

Me Placing Supports.

We're getting there...

LONG way down.

Here we see the Girders in Action. Look at them go!

Here's the Exterior, Note the simplicity.

THE STAIRS. Major snag. We had to redo the Stair shaft numerous times, and noone could figure out the formula. That is, until I stepped in.

The Choosing of the Paint Scheme. We set up a window to paint and check. We ended with that color scheme.

So we assigned floors to everyone, and got to work. We had []---[] doing the exterior pieces as well.

Me, painting.

Before and After.

GROUP PHOTO!

The Move was long and Hard, but worth it. Look at it's finished beauty.

Yeah.

Interior Design was not my strong suit.

Here's the After Model...

On To Bigger and better Things!

So, Now i'd like to hear what you think.

You forgot to mention that it took about a couple of days to build and what the smaller models are for.

i would like to be in the next group build cause that was a awesome idea.

btw, 8/10

i remember that tower i was there but not in the pic i was in the tdm e had fun we hijacked a heli and crashed damn collision

That was fun! :D I'm just sad I wasn't there from the start.

I've actually built a couple of towers using similar methods. Though I don't think i'd ever do one without the ability to hover.

Nice. I rate it 4/5(8/10).

Why a scyscraper? Why not the Colosseum or Statue of Liberty? :D
Hah just kidding, that would be impossible to do without jets.
Anyways awesome idea and nicely done.

whats the servers name so i can join next time, and if possible PM me when your starting again.

You mentioned scaffolding, but I didn't see much of that on any of the photographs.

ya, i only noticed it on first pic on top left.

My servers always start with the name "Yuki Presents", so it's easy to find.

Our next project is called "100 Floors of Win". We're going to do another project like this one, only we're going to plan it out more beforehand, and it's going to have 100 Floors, instead of 23.

You mentioned scaffolding, but I didn't see much of that on any of the photographs.
I know, most of it got removed before we took pictures. MuffinMix MIGHT have some.

what do you mean by dry wall?
