Author Topic: Is there life after death?  (Read 30533 times)

I believe in the afterlife. Well, not so much believing as it is hoping for, though. I guess my real belief in what happens after death is, well, you just stop everything. Breathing, seeing, feeling, thinking, dreaming. You're done and gone, forever. Seems like a depressing thought which is why I hope for afterlife or even reincarnation.

Also, Iban, seeing as you appear to have a scientific explanation for most everything, I'm curious as to what your explanation for ghosts might be. I mean, you can't just disregard the millions of videos and claims made by all kinds of people. Sure some are fake, but they can't all be, so what do you think?
People believe they have seen ghosts. That cannot be denied. However, there is no possible scientific explanation for the existence of ghosts besides that the eye can be deceiving. How many people claim they see the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, or, forget, the Bat-Monster in the midwest? How many children claim they see the boogie man in their closet, or under their beds? How many people are fooled by bullstuff placebos in scientific experiments? How many people are just plain fooled every day around the world, either by misinformation or visual deception? Millions and millions and millions daily.

Ghosts do not exist.

Iban, do you have Steam?
Sure do, but never get on it. I believe my ID is IbanX.

I completely agree with IbanZ on everything that he said.  If he didn't post it first, I would have said nearly the exact same things.

And JDofPivot, you sound like one of those people that are Atheist because it's "cool".  You do not have nearly enough life experience by the time you reach the 3rd grade to make a rational decision and to put the amount of thought it would take to realize who you really are and how you really perceive things.
Glad people can still agree with me without feeling guilty. :3

When I was in the 3rd-5th grade. I challenged my own faith by going to anti-religious websites and testing what I believed to their logic. Ultimately, when I was a little older, I ended up losing my religion.

Ibanz, you really do know everything don't you!? You apparently speak through experience with everything, because of course you've died before, and you physically proved ghost do not exist. I bet you even know how the universe was created! Look, until you die, you don't KNOW anything. So MAYBE you die, MAYBE your soul lives on, but I'll tell you one thing, you don't KNOW anything for sure. Without any proof or experience, your so called "facts" are rubbish, and the only true thing to be said is this, you don't know.

stuff

good point.
lets believe anything and everything, play it safe and not ask questions about anything.
because that's what improves the world and society.

other things that are rubbish by your logic:
the world may be round
we circle the sun
we can cure sickness without prayer
the black death(plague) isn't a cleanliness issue, but the wrath of god because there are sinners
other sciency stuff that helps us from day to day

Iban just got +1k respect in my books.

Substantial evidence points towards the Big Bang, Panterra. :P

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm a scary ghost. Wooooooo. Or, possibly, I don't need to die in order to know that there's no possible loving chance for your mind to rip out of your head and float into space. Notice that you're not providing any evidence or factual information of your own, merely picking on me for not being a dead guy. I'm sorry I'm not like Zombie Jesus, but even he would know that spiritual residue is bullstuff.

I still don't see you speaking from personal experience. I'm just saying, you don't really know anything to be 100 percent factual. It's really annoying to me that you talk like you really know everything. I'm not saying that you do not make good points, because you do. What I'm trying to say is, you can't really prove it.

how many of us open minded people had to get hung by you. how many of our books burned.
yet we are the ones improving the world, while they sit back and make wishes to god

If I typed in a fashion that did not demonstrate my confidence in my own words, it would not be worth reading what I have to right. Befuddling my own argument with a severe lack of constitution behind what I say is useless. If I asked a Christian, or anyone for that matter, what they thought they would not go "Well, erm, I think that they may possibly be a chance of life after death, but I really don't know. I'm not an expert behind the field of afterlife sciences, you know. It's just that I really don't have that much to say because I'm not educated in the field." Instead, they would straight out say "I believe that when we die we go to the pearly gates, or rot in the bowels of hell."

Notice that one is a quivering mook that really shouldn't be interrogated for their opinions, because not even they can believe what they think. It's up to you to decide what is unreasonable in my posts.

You twisted what I said A LOT! I was merely saying he couldn't prove what he said to be true at all, but expressed and drawn out in one long rant. All those things you've just said have substantial evidence to prove it to be true. It's just, the topics we are touching on now, really have no way to be found out for sure, or really even come close. So what he says may seem logical, but there is really no way to prove it. I personally will not state my believes, mainly because I still don't know them.

No, you see, there's a difference between what I believe and what you believe. What I believe can be logically deduced from a mixture of common knowledge and logic. There is no proof that after you die your soul floats up into heaven, but there is proof that after you die your brain stops functioning. There is no proof that Heaven exists, but there is proof that after all thought ends when your brain stops functioning. So, the answer is pretty obvious. When you die your brain stops functioning and that's the end. Unless you include Hocus Pocus into the equation, then anything is possible. With the power of Faith and Charisma, it is possible to believe that killing yourself with poison punch in a desolate area of Africa will result in your spiritual being being transported to your own private heaven.

Also, everything I said about the coffin is true. They even cover coffins in concrete now so your guts don't explode out into the soil and cause biohazards.

I see your points in this, and did not realize this is how you actually thought. I see what your saying and now understand what you mean. And I also see that you understand me. I just thought you were being an arrogant prick, not an intellectual person.

That's often the drawback to being an arrogant prick.

Seems like, same level of thought, just opposite sides of the fence. I'm probably just a bigger starfish.

Edit: To be truthful, I just don't dwell upon things like these, which is probably why I think like this. I find it more fun to live with question.

I was merely saying he couldn't prove what he said to be true at all

nor could any of these things, claimed the world.
but they were proven weren't they.

sure its hard to imagine god and heaven and souls to be disproved, but science has to fight people like this again and again. to manage to prove things anyway.

"proof" is simply being able to test something again and again to have results to study.
there are already many things in the works to study how the galaxy, and matter is created. something you claimed above here, that couldn't be proven, yet we have come so far already

Which is exactly what I think. The "how the universe was created" thing was just really another widely disputed topic I used. And I do hope one day we get technology to prove these things, but currently I don't believe there is. I just don't think it will be in our lifetime, but who knows?
