Author Topic: Russia vs. Georgia  (Read 5351 times)

I am going to be really ticked off if Bush decides to forget the US over by sending us into that mess as well...
*sigh*
So for those who don't know, Georgia was trying to reclaim some old territory. Russia decided this was a bad thing and now has invaded Georgia, dispite saying they were just going to play defensive. The problem for the US is that Georgia is a UN country applying for NATO membership, and is backed by the US. That means, if this gets much worse, we will be dragged into this while still dealing with all that middle-east crap. Oorah!

No, Georgia was invading a region that declared independence. Then Russia invaded Georgia for endangering Russian citizens in South Ossetia (the independent area)

:science:

Err... yeah.... I will just say you are right...

South Ossetia was an autonomous body (or call it the Confederacy of the Civil War).  This is so 1938: Georgie=Czechoslavkia, South Ossetia=Sudetenland, and the "ethnic people" are the Russians.

US is not backing Georgia atm. If you are listening to Russian propaganda you are going to hear "USA caused this, blah blah."

Wait, why is Georgia involved in any conflict? How did they manage to get off their rocking chairs and stop throwing rocks at black people long enough to get over to Russia?

Yay!

It's almost like Call of Duty 4. :cookieMonster:

Why does everyone stereotype southerners?

Heard about that

You reeeely suck. Were not all tribals.

Because it's true. I know a Georgian black who says he knows what parts he isn't welcomed in.

I live in a place surrounded by hicks, I know what you mean now that I think about it.

Why does everyone stereotype southerners?

all stereotypes are true generalizations about a group.
people get offended about stereotyping, but its thanks to that word that they don't HAVE to be part of it.
just of course you cant claim it applies to all of them because there's always that few people that fall outside of that "norm"

Congrats, half the people here do not know where Georgia is!

Georgia supports the US, and to put it mildly Russia doesn't like having competition so close to home. They had a fit about anti-ballistic missile sites in Eastern Europe a while ago. All these events are connected.

Congrats, half the people here do not know where Georgia is!
Which is sad. Hurr let's send the National Guard. -_-
