Russia vs. Georgia

Congrats, half the people here do not know where Georgia is!
I do. It's south of Russia. :D

Bah, Georgia is forgeted :/

USA won't do anything but giving them some moral support. Hey, wake up! It's Russia! Just because the Cold War is over, and there's no Soviet Union and a huge percentage of the Soviet nuclear warheads went missing, they still can bite hard. That's why Hungary got no support back in 1956 ( I admit, there was the Suez crCIA which contributed a lot to it), and that's why Georgia might be left alone by the United States.

Also, the US is involved in two major conflicts, and however surprising it may sound, the US has its own limits, even though they are capable of doing far more things compared to other countries.

Are you loving kidding me? This is America, not the god damn world police. Just because another country is at risk does not mean we should sing "AMERICA, forget YEAH!" and storm our G.I. Joes into Eurasia.

Yes, it's sad. Another country is going to fall victim to war. But it shouldn't be us. We don't have the money. We don't have the troops. We don't have the time. If America stormed into another country, it is undoubted that the world will turn their backs even more on us. No one will face with the country with the largest army's motto being "The enemy of our enemy is our friend."

I said nothing about "OMG USA HALP PLX!!!!!!!". or being the world police. I was just thinking of the chances of an American intervention, and well, it's not quite a good idea right now, when you are already fighting on two other battlefields.

This should have been solved through the UN. USA is not the world police, the UN should be.

PS.: I just skimmed through the news, looks like the EU is willing to help (money), and the US just gave some warning to the Russians. I still don't think that we should cause a Third World War.

According to some sources, Russia has been waiting for this moment for quite some time.

Hey neither does Bush

Slightly Off, but I read an article which was about US newspaper firing their foreign correspondents due to money issues, and fill the void with local news instead. Way to go, people! Ignorance is bliss.

I've never heard of this country, to be honest. I blame the education system.

We have the following courses:
In Elementary School, Florida history. That's right. Just Florida.
In Middle School, we touched on Geography (I failed miserably. I cant put a capital to a country to save my life.) and US History.
In  Highschool, world history. It's very funny to see them try and sum up the world in one year-long course. Usually these courses cover: America, Europe, Russia, China, Japan, some major South America countries, and South Africa. That's it.

It is obvious you have no clue on this issue. Stop posting here. Take your excuses for not knowing to another thread.

Oi, forget off. One of the issues at hand was that "50% of this forum has never heard of Georgia." I have enlightened you all on our lovely education system.

And, just so you know, I strongly believe that America should be an introverted country. It absolutely should not meddle in foreign affairs and should not be in the UN.

Orly? If the US left the UN it would be this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/League_of_Nations

The UN is flawed, and America, or anyone from the Super 5(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council) can do whatever they want. For something to be passed in the UN, it must get a vote from each of these countries saying "yes". Of course, must of these just say "lol, to bad" and do what they want.

And no, American education is not a part of this thread.

I'm going to do what I should do when something comes up and I don't know what it is but often times I'm too lazy to-- read the wikipedia article.

Very useful article.

Georgia is located in the middle east on the black sea, for those of you who don't know.

So, from my understanding, two parts of Georgia declared independence, backed by Russia, and Georgia tried to reclaim one of them by surrounded and taking its capital, which was later retaken by Russia. What happens next is unsure because it hasn't happened yet.(But I think a ceasefire was issued)

Apparently some major oil pipelines run through southern Georgia, I wonder what would happen if Russia took them.

According to my knowledge, most of the rest of the world(for lack of me remembering the specifics) wants a peaceful solution.

Do I have this right?

Move to a state that gives a damn. Massachusetts may have been a bitch and a half about curriculum, but I know a hell of a lot more than I would if I was living elsewhere. (Probably because MA taxes a lot, therefore more money on schools)

But I have to agree with Flyguy, ignorance on the subject is no excuse for talking out of your ass.
