Author Topic: Russia vs. Georgia  (Read 5343 times)

I knew of Georgia, I just didn't know anything about the Ruso-American bit of it.

I watched a show on PBS about 3 months ago on Georgia's military and the US training they were getting. Looks like it paid off.

Russia said they will stop bombing Georgia now. Georgia said they are still doing it though they said they would stop. Ugh... humans are so annoying...

Georgia and Russia are like little kids:
"YOU DID IT FIRST!"

"NUH UH YOU DID!"

Russia plays the game differently than the West. They've never had democracy in their history before, not once. They depend on strong leaders and a strong military. For a long time they couldn't fulfill their promise to help their citizens, but now they can thanks to oil and commercial output. They are not subtle about their problems or their solutions. Why go around the door when you can bust it down?

He also announced that Russian peacekeepers in Georgia's other breakaway region, Abkhazia, will now be regarded as an occupying army - ending an agreement in place since 1994.

Suspicious...

Wait, why is Georgia involved in any conflict? How did they manage to get off their rocking chairs and stop throwing rocks at black people long enough to get over to Russia?
Whoa whoa whoa, man. Slow down. That's offensive on my terms. >:( the part about Georgians being tribal...not the black people part.

So what? Georgians live in a society where they consider black people a lower part of society. But guess what? NO AFRICAN AMERICANS LIVE IN GEORGIA. BTW, this doesn't mean I'm tribal, I'm saying some people in Georgia consider them in a lower social class. Georgians who immigrated to America and other parts where African Americans are considered of normal social class (Like they should be), have changed views and those immigrants consider African Americans to be equal as us.

About the war:

Georgia decided to claim former territory of theirs, South Ossetia, that recently claimed independence (When I was in Georgia, they had a TV Channel streaming from that region, and they were showing independence propaganda videos). Georgia tried to claim it back, but Russia took it seriously and invaded that area and began war against Georgia.

A lot of Georgians are now being evacuated across the border to other relatives or nations, such as Armenia (I'm Armenian too). My dad's friend's mother is actually being evacuated from there, and my mom's parents in Armenia are helping my dad's friend's mother get out safely.

Basically, if you make fun of this whole thing, you are a total starfish.
---(For those of you who didn't figure it out, I am Georgian. Actually I have royal blood in me, my ancestors castle is in Gori, Georgia on top of a mountain :D )---

EDIT:
I've never heard of this country, to be honest. I blame the education system.

We have the following courses:
In Elementary School, Florida history. That's right. Just Florida.
In Middle School, we touched on Geography (I failed miserably. I cant put a capital to a country to save my life.) and US History.
In  Highschool, world history. It's very funny to see them try and sum up the world in one year-long course. Usually these courses cover: America, Europe, Russia, China, Japan, some major South America countries, and South Africa. That's it.
Okay, seriously. GTFO the topic.

If you don't know anything about this conflict or the Republic of Georgia or how to pronounce the capital right (COUGHcnn reportersCOUGH), GTFO the thread.

Wrong. They claimed independence a while ago but no one has recognized them as a real country.  Like I said earlier, they had a cease-fire, backed by Russia, then Georgia attacked. Russia responded and then war happened. Georgia is 100% at fault.

Yes, it was their territory, but if they attacked so would Russia.

Ah. I wasn't really to sure about the whole thing, I heard it Saturday and I was worried as stuff.

Georgia just dug their own grave :(
I still hate how CNN reporters pronounce the T in Tbilisi, the capital. The T is silent.

War over. 5 days. Russia stopped attacking. Etc etc.
I do beleive something stupid like this will come up again, but for now, the business is over. G'day folks.

Russia attacks again...

Russia attacks again...
when did they start attacking "again" ?

I suppose if we act like Russia, we should attack China because the American was killed. Obviously China is threatening American citizens.

Now does any of that really make sense? I think Russia just was getting back at Georgia, and this was the most effective way to do so.
