Author Topic: Vista Lag  (Read 1943 times)

OK so i have a problem with blockland...
Recently i got a new computer which has Windows Vista (i previously had XP) and when i get to 12000 blocks it starts to lag though before i had no problem displaying over 60000 bricks without any lag(NVidia Geforce GO 7600).
Any suggestions???

My comp specs=
Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB of RAM
NVIDIA Geforce Go 8600M GT
(if theres need for more details tell me)

I had this same problem and I had to switch video cards, Badspot told me to go to a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT. Ever since I switched cards I never get any lag.

Fine then, spend $600 on new top-end hardware to make up for how stuffty vista is.  Vista is inherently slower than XP.  It is a fundamental flaw in the way Vista renders to the screen.  Either bend over and lube up or revert to XP - those are the only options.

(its a laptop and its my dads computer)
I cant change it to xp so i guess im stuck (and teh price would be 1200$ )

(didnt find the edit button)
Also my dad doesnt want to change it (cause hes lazy O_O) to XP.
But are there any other options?
ANYTHING?

<sigh> how many times do i have to tell this to people? do NOT get vista! it is the WORST operating system EVER!!!!!

Vista is great even if it has problems such as this. Program crashes are much more stable now plus compatibility if fixed. Badspot made a valid point that it is slower on older computers, but upgrading does fix it. I'm not saying that makes it right for Vista to slow down the rendering but it can work very well under the right conditions (which are becoming more common as times goes on). Hopefully the next MS operating system will address issues like these...
