Not always true..in a mmorpg sense, most Pay to play MMOs have more players.

The difference here is that MMOs are many, so players look for quality, and they are of an age that they will pay for a improvement in quality. Roblox on the other hand is played by kids, and they flock to anything that is free, and then once addicted, they wine to their parents until they will pay for crappy membership. (see: Runescape)
