Author Topic: Game-wide cash.  (Read 895 times)

The cash mod works great in-game, but unfortunately, with no way to transfer ownership of a specific building, and there's no official way to "buy" anything in the game, what's the point?

Cash mod works great technically, but it loses all purpose because it doesn't carry over, and you don't spend it building. In most servers, it just accumulates over time and I think I've only done something with it once.

So what I'm proposing is a change in V10 so that th game comes with cash mod, and depending on the settings, it costs money to build in servers and your money carries over onto other servers.

This has the advantage of making money useful aaaaaand, here's the kicker.

In servers where you want to get some serious building done, you enable brick cost and boom! No more spam! Noobs won't come into your server and spend money just to lay down a few 1x1s. Once more, It probably wouldn't be much harder to customize cost for each individual brick.

This would significantly cut down on spam in more serious servers, give money practical use, and add a new element of game play to the game.

So what do you think?

One server will just give you 99999999999 cash, and then you can go about your daily business without restriction. Its a bad idea for it to be a blockland-default thing and it would never be feasible.

I'd personally have it set so if the person isn't on my build list, I set the building cost to their current fund just before the brick is planted.

That's a good idea.

That's true. Didn't RTB once have cash and brick cost?

Sure but it wasn't cross-server.

True.
The only thing that I could think of to knock out your problem is to set a game-wide cap on the amount of money that can be doled out. Or just set it as a concrete number.

Or no one could give cash, but you get it now and then...

Servers have ultimate control over the users in it, if someone wants to spam a server, they can just go to their own server and give themselves loads of cash, then go back to the other one for more spamming.

Spam is not much of an issue in Blockland now that you can clear somebody's bricks and ban them at the click of a button.

Did you hear what I said before? I said...

Meaning you can't change the amount of cash you get or set it to a ridiculous amount, in any server.

But your second point is true.

Well still, you could just set it to the max.

It would be ridiculous.

1. goto your server and set to max
2. goto other server and spend
3. repeat.

Except for the fact that the max wouldn't be a ludicrous amount.

If it wasn't a large amount then at a certain point you couldn't progress any further money-wise.

example:

max is 300

small lot costs 150, medium 250, large costs 350...

what are you going to do?

And, not only that, but it would be easier just to goto your server and get the cash rather than earn it on the other server.

The idea is pointless as there is basically no way to balance it.
